He obviously didn't see enough from Buck, but he did move out Jones to let Miller play. So it's not like he's against the kids completely.
Correct, maybe he liked Buck but he was not the type of player he needed for his system. Maybe he did this to help Buck? we will probably never know
I think he was trying to help, if we take him at his word. It still stings to not be able to make this work around Yusuf and Polster (who is in his last contracted year I just read - partially explains the uptick in performance). https://bsky.app/profile/calebpongratz.bsky.social/post/3lnlisc7lis2w
That's a weird one. I'd wager that Jack is not thrilled with being shipped to Hartford, especially since he did a stint last year with RIFC.
RIFCs midfield seems pretty settled at this point, whereas Hartford is Hartford. I'm not saying Jack isn't good enough to play for RIFC, I just don't think the opportunity for PT is as immediate
Thr 2nd one is a bit ridiculous. He's running off the field, but he takes a little too long and gets a yellow for it
Well, yes and no. If your first priority as coach is to maximize the value of your players for transfer fees, then yes, Porter should have played him every minute available. But, is that what we want? Isn't getting on a winning track really the most important thing? And, maybe those two goals were at cross-purposes. Should we have transferred him in 2023 - with no coach on board? I don't like most of the deals Onalfo did without Porter, so I don't have a lot of faith in him making that deal. And, it seemed like those rumored numbers might have been made of vapor. Buck is still a talented kid without an established position. Porter's had a lot - and growing - pressure to start winning, so developing a kid who hasn't locked down a position was probably a luxury he couldn't afford. I imagine they signed his brother, hoping that might motivate him more, but I really get the sense that Buck never really did enough to win Porter over.
I'd be inclined to agree with you, if by not playing Buck we had been winning games or played compelling soccer. The dichotomy you stated doesn't exist. We both didn't play the player, and didn't win games. He wasn't a critical bench piece. So what was the point of keeping him? Even now I think we could use him. The balance sheet for the last 3 weeks has looked great, but the figures are all wrong. We're creating few to no big scoring chances, and conceding quite a few. Those are usually indicative of a team that loses games. We know Buck can score from distance, and for a team that seems allergic to finding good shots from inside the box we need to have more of that on the field.

Revolution sign midfielder Matt Polster to multi-year contract revolutionsoccer.net Friday, May 16, 2025, 03:00 PM
No Revs on the US preliminary (60-man) Gold Cup roster (DeJuan Jones is though). Luis Diaz is on the Costa Rica roster, and JD Gunn (R2) is on the Panama roster. https://www.concacaf.com/en/gold-cup/news/2025-concacaf-gold-cup-preliminary-rosters-announced/
This is starting to feel like another Rev's year where we are one player short of relevance. If we don't sign another impact player in the summer window, I fear it will come true once again.
DeJuan has been replaced on the US roster due to injury. https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...-camp-roster-june-matches-turkiye-switzerland
