Salt Lake and Dallas can clinch the last two playoff spots with a win each. Draws by each would eliminate San Jose but not Colorado.
These links are only for the Wednesday match. There are seven players from these teams on international callup, so it may be a very different match than with full rosters. Here are PRO’s Assignments for the Wednesday match. Here are the Player Availability and Disciplinary Summary reports for the Wednesday match. Here are the MLS Game Guides for the Wednesday match. As of this morning, the MLS has not updated the disciplinary summary for this match.
But for fans in the Eastern time zone, neither streak will end today. Fans in Toronto may be a bit preoccupied around kickoff, and maybe the rest of the night.
Yep. Coello was 106-for-116 passing, 91% completion rate. I can't remember the last time I saw a player with 100+ completions in a match. I know it happens from time to time, but it sure isn't common. Toronto isn't hopeless. They are looking much more solid than they did at the start of the season. LAFC has such a deep bench that they still dominated with four key players on international duty. They have that look of a very dangerous team peaking at the right time.
OK, I was referring to the gaffe that led to the first goal, and the VAR red card after the game ended, but point taken.
Trust me, I saw your point and was in cringe mode while watching it, too. I was trying to find something positive out of the mess. It's a little like complementing the chef for a nice dinner as the Titanic was sinking.
My bad. Other posters at times past would use that for the Galaxy and FC for the other. I have not moved with the times!
These links are good for the Saturday and Sunday matches. Here are PRO's Assignments for the weekend matches. Here are the Player Availability and Disciplinary Summary reports for the weekends matches. The MLS finally updated the Disciplinary Summary report. Here are the MLS Game Guides for the weekend matches.
<nerdy stat alert> I thought this earlier, but I verified it. To date, no more than four teams have earned 60+ points in a season (4 in 2024 and 4+ in 2025). Four teams currently have 60+ points, Philadelphia (66+), Cincinnati (62+), San Diego (60+), and Vancouver (60+). Three more teams can reach 60 this season, LAFC (59+ with 2 matches to play), Miami (59+ with 2 matches to play), and Minnesota (58+ with one match to play). Miami can reach 60 today or Decision Day. LAFC can reach 60 Sunday or Decision Day. Minnesota has to wait to Decision Day. In the 34-match era, no teams reached 60 in 2013, only one team in 2016 and 2017, two teams in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2019, and 2023, three teams in 2018, 2021, and 2022, and four teams in 2024 and so far in 2025. In non-34-match seasons (1996-2010 and 2020) only two teams reached 60 points, one in 1998 (32 matches, with shootout rules) and one in 2005 (32 matches). </nerdy stat alert>
I've also been thinking that after the first 14 years of constantly changing season length we have had 15 seasons now of 34 games seasons (plus the COVID mess of 2020). Even with all the talk about moving the schedule and Leagues Cup changes I hope they stick to the 34 games for consistency.
Nerdy stats or not, that's very informative! I've been off and on here for the past week or so. My right leg has been bothering me all summer and into this autumn. I have a surgery planned for next month to hopefully rectify the situation. It means that sometimes, I can't sit at the computer for more than 10 or 15 minutes without pain that causes me to have to get up and try to walk around a bit or lie down and give it a break. Last week was particularly bad for me, but things have been better the past 3 days. Anyway, here's the series information for the 6 MLS matches this week/weekend: --The LAFC win over Toronto Wednesday gives Los Angeles a 2-0-1 (W-L-D) record against TFC. --Vancouver has the lead over Orlando, 3-1-1. --Miami and Atlanta are tied in their series, 7-7-4. --Los Angeles Galaxy lead FC Dallas, 42-40-13. --Real Salt Lake are up on Seattle, 20-17-8. --Los Angeles FC lead Austin, 7-3-2.
Orlando and Atlanta have short benches tonight. Miami has Messi in the XI against Atlanta. Apparently Orlando's and Atlanta's benches were built by the Home Dep. Vancouver's and Miami's slightly longer benches were built by the Home Depo.
