Zaha earns a penalty for Charlotte who are surely on their way to win #9 on the trot. Toklomati buries it for the hat trick. 3-0
NYCFC is doing a solid for Red Bulls, so far. NYRB kicks off in Portland about 30 minutes from now. A Red Bulls win moves them ahead of Chicago for the last playoff spot in the East, if the Pigeons hang on for the win against the Fire.
After the earlier discussion tonight, it dawned on me that I hadn't checked the California Classico series between the Galaxy and the Clash/Earthquakes. The teams did not meet in 2007 or 2008, but despite that, Los Angeles and San Jose actually are the 2nd most played series in MLS. The teams have met 101 times, which makes it the most played rivalry in the West. Galaxy hold a 48-34 advantage over the Quakes, with 19 draws. Sorry for the mix-up. It's hard to keep track of this stuff if you're trying to go off memory, and my 66-year old brain contains a lot of useless mush in it as it is! Just to be safe, I thought I'd check the series for Columbus. The Crew have played the New York MetroStars/Red Bulls 94 times. They've played New England 93 times, and DC United 92 times. Columbus have played Chicago 84 times. Also, Sporting Kansas City have played FC Dallas 84 times. Colorado have played San Jose 81 times.
One of my friends is in Vancouver for a conference and going to his first MLS game tonight. He was at Mueller's first game for Bayern and is excited to see him again. I may have overstated what he could expect from the Union tonight.
VAR harshly takes away Philly's goal, still 3-0 That's not clear and obvious. MLS' VAR this season has been atrocious.
