In olden times, when ABC might show an NASL game once a month, teams may have been content to play for a draw in the late going. It's nice to see both VAN and LAFC going for all 3 points.

Changing the subject here. Did anyone notice the YSA chant Orlando fans were doing on a goal kick by the New England keeper Saturday night...or was I hearing things?

Has San Diego put the kabosh on the chant on opposing keeper's goal kicks. I haven't watched a San Diego home game for a few weeks.

 

Boos were clearly for the referee.

 

I remember when the league cracked down on Metro Stars fans who were doing that on opposing teams' corner kicks. Guess we're entering into an 'anything goes' phase now.

Congratulations to Steve Cangialosi (sp?) on his restraint as his favorite team hammered their old rivals. If that had happened when he was announcing for MSG NY he would have been hoarse by the end of the game.

 

I heard it too. Reminded me of one of my favorite quotes from Matt Reis back when he was the Revs keeper. A reporter asked him about that chant, and he replied, "I thought they were saying 'Your socks have holes.' "

 

May see a repeat Saturday as SJ visits Foxboro.
