I like Nathan Ordaz, but we were probably his third choice. He also accepted callups to Mexico. A forward/winger with 2 goals and 1 assist in more than 500 minutes of MLS league play. There are going to be more and more and more players like this as the depth of our pool expands. Good players that we just can't provide an opportunity to.

Steffen has cooled off Blackmon has been making a case for a GC look. Berhalter: 4 goals and 4 assists in his last 8 matches Young defenders are coming out of the woodwork Surely a full U20 team could at least make semis of the upcoming U20 World Cup. Despite Chicago getting early red, 16 y/o Christopher Cupps made the list.
Yep. From what I've seen, most weeks more than half the 11 spent some time in college. I appreciate your posts on this. Fun to follow. Haver you ever done an "up to this point in the season" one? Thanks again. I sort of stole your idea for NWSL. Couldn't really figure out how to work WhoScored (I'm old, and have never been called "intelligent"). So, I did a "so far" best US-eligible 11, using Sofascore. It was interesting and fun.
Kinda thought Steffen's start was unsustainable, but to be fair to the guy, the current downturn is about as long as the openning blistering start was, so as I said at the time, let's see what he looks like in September/October. Of course my opinion is irrelevant, Poch lazily threw him into the pool before the metrics justified him being within a billion miles of it, so who knows. But for now, I believe in the current downturn about as much as I believed in the hot start, which is, not much. I want to see where he's at after another 15-20 starts, then we can see if health combined with some tweaks in how he plays are sticky in terms of long term form.
Steffen’s last match against DC was interesting. He made one save I doubt many keepers make, tipping a shot headed for the upper 90 off the bar, and didn’t stop another I feel most would have, he looked pretty slow changing direction. Distribution? Awful.
Blackmon is interesting........Hes doing everything you need to do to be "next man up". Id support that one
Could be he looked at the the pool and wanted Steffen in because he has the highest ceiling. He wanted to see if he could get him to that ceiling and fall back on others if not. Sounds like he flashed it at the beginning of the season but has tailed off. I wonder if he's starting to get niggling injuries again. Sort of like Reyna he really needs to prove he can stay healthy and then excel for long periods of time. Unfortunately, staying healthy is a real talent and many of our best players don't have that much talent in staying healthy. Looking back it's sort of amazing how durable Donovan was.

I know he is not in the picture but after missing basically two years due to injury, Paxton Pomykal returned to MLS tonight for Dallas. Go get you some!
Luna goal Westfield goal, Arfsten had one as well, and Quinn Sullivan his usual one assist per game MLS pundits saying that Danny Musovsky should keep the starting forward job when Morris and Ferreira return from injury with Morris moving over to winger and Ferreira on the bench... Musovsky has 5 goals in the last 5 games which is as many goals as Jesus Ferreira has over the 2024 and 2025 seasons combined. He's played 6 minutes since the 2023 playoffs.................... I don't know what we can expect from him, but the guy deserves a lot of credit for coming back from injury over and over again. Those were two nice goals from Luna and Anderson Julio in that game. Two pretty "meh" teams. Both would be outside of the playoffs if they started today. Dallas should have won that game after going up a man in minute 58.
Speaking of missing the playoffs, LA Galaxy lost 7-0 to NYRB. They haven't won a game yet. Not only might they be the worst defending MLS Cup champs of all time, they're on track to being one of the worst teams of all time. Maybe the worst. First team in MLS history to be winless after 12 games. They just look hapless. 17 year old Julian Hall was able to get into the match for NYRB with 15 minutes to go. Jesus hasn’t played striker well for Seattle in the style the manager wants. He’s been very effective as a 10. He has 5 assists already. Musovski is prospering by making the striker runs and finishing. He goes where he’s supposed to be and it’s working well. He was getting the chances earlier in the year but not finishing.
Indeed. Jesus is tied with his teammate Christian Roldan for 2nd amongst US-eligibles in assists after the aforementioned Quinn Sullivan.
