Interesting choice... SCHEDULE UPDATE | Revolution to host Chicago Fire FC in U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 at Providence College revolutionsoccer.net posted: Thursday, May 8, 2025, 04:00 PM Battling for the hearts of RI?
Na, I think it's more that they wanted to find a right-sized stadium close enough by for a good atmosphere.

I'd like to believe the revs are going to go for it, but based on R2's absences this weekend it'll almost certainly be the kiddos again. Interesting to see how the senior revs' injuries along the attacking band change who we see in providence
Yeah, Porter pretty well said as much in that interview. Heavy on R2, along with Bono, Farrell, Hughes, etc.
I flew back from New Orleans around 8pm Saturday, so missed the game and wound up listening to the game on the radio driving home. I won't get into my issues with Feldman on the radio ("Look at this!"), but I will note that he and Davies both noted the 5 games in 15 days issue that the Revs are currently in, so squad rotation would be a requirement. Therefore this really isn't a surprise. Chicago, in the meantime, is now on the second match of a four game road trip.
Yep, he's rolling the dice on the kids. They'll either sink or swim. Hopefully swim and be all the more experienced for it. I do like Porter's transparency.
Since we have few attacking options on the bench, with the current injuries, we have little choice but to rely on R2 - for subs, at a minimum.
looks like 6 of the 11 players that started for Shitcago's last cup game were regular 1st team starters: Brady, Gutman, Elliott, Rogers, Cypers and Bamba
Given the lineups, that went as expected (which makes Saturday even more disappointing, as the Revs first team should have done the same thing against SJE's 2nd team). I can't blame them, as Caleb is on the hot seat if they don't make the playoffs this year, while Gregg has some first-year leeway.
Enjoyed watching a couple of the kids again. The ref was ... not good. Basically as soon as a Fire player was "hurt" the whistle was blown. The second half when the trainers came out, the Fire player was allowed to stay on the field and the Fire scored their second immediately after. The first goal resulted off a questionable call. This isn't to say we we lost because of bad calls, they were just more talented than what we put out there (playing 2 17 and 18 years olds), but it didn't help with a good product. The weather was awful as well.
Mark-Anthony Kaye with the game-winning assist (shot that was slightly deflected by a teammate) in AET to give SJE the win last night. How come he never did that for the Revs?...
Because Porter coaches a system, not a player. Bruce has no system and coaches by pushing players buttons. Take your pick as to which you think is better. I tend to believe that Bruce's system is for short term gain and not so much long term, unless he has a stacked team like 2014 L.A. Galaxy. Caleb's system doesn't pay immediate dividends, but has the potential to be very consistent in the long run, once he has the pieces he feels he needs.
Disappointing to see us basically throw in the towel on the Open Cup this year. While I understand not using the first 11, we have a number of guys who have been subs that would have put up more of a fight. I'm sure the rationale was to trade this for wins in the next 2 (very winnable) games in KC and Montréal. It will be very disappointing to not get all 6 points from those.
What was most disappointing was seeing the considerable gap in quality between the first team and R2.
