You must have been watching the other Spain-Colombia game. In the one I saw, it was quite even. I'd even say Colombia was slightly better. Colombia certainly had amazing attackers, if (somewhat predictably) an erratic defense. Spain is more of a possession-oriented team, but I wouldn't say they were better on the day. In this case, both teams made bad defensive mistakes. Colombia's forwards are just scary good.
There is something deeply funny about Mexico getting beaten at their own game. Also deeply funny was Obed Vargas biting hard on Prestiannini’s ball fake that opened up the path for the first goal (which was rebounded from a pretty good save from Ochoa)
And....I'm done watching and don't give a ----. The previous four ---- sandwiches were much easier to swallow than this inept stupidity. I'm out, gonna focus on WCQ instead. The saddest bit was that our side of the bracket was opened up if we could beat a team we'd already beaten but of course, no.
eh not that funny. Concacaf is a cupcake in comparison to Conmebol. This is why I think it's so important that Mexico get's back to Copa Libertadores. It was night and day on the style of play Mexico is a bunch of rich kids vs Argentina who still bring that canchero type of play. oh well, ultimately Argentina is the strongest team of the tournament (they have the most expensive squad)
It is worth noting that 3 of the final 8 teams do lose to the eventual champion (and one of those 8 is the champion themselves). Yes, it’s a bit odd we keep drawing them in the quarters, but once you are in the quarters, you are playing some good teams.
I was about to say that. I mean, if we're making the quarterfinals 5 times in a row........................the team that eliminates us by definition is going to be at least a semifinalist. Its true that Uruguay won it in 2023 after beating us. But that's not true of 2017 or 2019. Does it make me feel better if we lost to the eventual Champion? Not really.
