These tickets will likely be much cheaper than Copa America, except for maybe a few high profile matches. FIFA will be looking at very empty stadiums if the prices start at $100+. Most soccer fans in the US are unaware this tournament is happening, let alone anyone more casual.
The California and Texas stadiums are hosting the Concacaf Gold Cup at the same time as the CWC. Between the two tournaments, only Kansas City, Boston, and Toronto aren't hosting any matches this summer (of the US/Canada host cities). Including the Mexico stadiums would've been a decent idea (especially with three Mexican teams in the CWC). But FIFA would lose a lot of money on those ticket sales.
Depends. Mainly on humidity. Yes, on humid days it seems to be most unbearable a couple hours before sunset. But on dry days, its often earlier and then it cools off after around 4. Also must factor playing in the sun (noon) versus in the shade (6pm).
Boston has been completely out of the loop for the recent Gold Cups, Copa America, and even friendlies. Not sure why that is. I can’t remember the last major match played there, whereas they used to be a given on the summer circuit 10 years ago (for both club friendlies and international matches). The influence of the Kraft family is likely a big part of their inclusion in the World Cup.
that stadium is in the middle of nowhere, hard to reach and it sucks anyway. giving it WC hosting rights only because of kraft is just another criminal decission by FIFA
Yeah, it's closer to Rhode Island than it is to Boston. Like by a lot. But no worse than Metlife in NJ which not only hosts WC and Club WC games, but it's the main venue for both tournaments.
Qatar was what, games at 1, 4, 7, and 10 pm local? I could see '26 being mostly 4 and 7 pm local on weekdays, with some 1 pms on weekends and July 4th. Between all 3 time zones they can still have a similar all-day viewing experience. For the Euro-heavy viewership games they can try to cluster around 4 pm on the east coast kickoffs with the odd 1 pm weekend/holiday game
Not exactly the same … MetLife Stadium is only 15 minutes driving from midtown Manhattan (longer with traffic) and there’s also an easy train option from Penn Station.
I think they’ll generally be earlier than that. 4pm ET is already 10pm in Europe (and middle of the night in India/China). There’s no way they’ll play almost every game in the middle of the night in Europe when they could just easily have midday/afternoon kickoffs in the US. Very little consideration will likely be given to local kickoff times, even if that means playing in the midday heat during the workday. These matches are big events in each host city and playing at any time is fine for attendance. But hopefully they at least consider playing the hot daytime games at the indoor stadiums. If they want to keep a consistent kickoff schedule with four matches per day, I think it’ll be closer to 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, and 9pm ET. We might even see some 11am local kickoffs in KC and Texas. For the knockout rounds, I’m guessing 12pm and 4pm ET The most recent WC to compare with is Brazil. Kickoffs were 1pm, 4pm, and 7pm local in the group stage and 1pm and 5pm local in the knockout rounds (Brazil is one hour ahead of ET).
Decent draw for Miami. Four points could be possible against Al Ahly and Palmeiras. Porto will be the toughest, but I wonder how they will cope on turf?
I got a communication from Manchester City that our reserved ticketing window will be open until 3rd January. Presumably the same for the other participants. No word on pricing and the administrator is Ticketmaster…….
Realistically it's a good hour to drive there when you're going at the same time as 85,000 others and even longer on the return trip. Regarding the train, last I checked you had to connect at Secaucus, so that's 2 trains from Penn Station plus whatever you need to get to Penn station (which is easily the worst neighbourhood in Manhattan, so that's unlikely to be your starting point). Not sure I would consider that easy.
Some media sources have linked Cristiano with a potential move to Al Ahly. Take it with a grain of salt (can the Egyptians even afford his wages?), but you know Infantino would be drooling at the thought of Messi vs CR7 in the CWC group stage
Remember, just because the World Cup revolves around Europe, doesn't mean this tournament will. Do people actually think that just because Chelsea is playing, all of Europe will tune in? Or even all of London?
I was talking about 2026 kickoff times. For the CWC, I definitely agree that higher total numbers in Asia might actually be watching teams like Chelsea, Bayern, PSG than will watch in their home countries and cities. Probably why we have all these 12pm kickoff times for the Euro clubs, which is a reasonable kickoff time in all of Eurasia. There will be very tepid interest in this tournament in Europe among the fans of the clubs, let alone anyone casual. Much different for the 2026 World Cup.
Just got information that Ticketmaster will indeed sell the 2025 Club World Cup tickets . Might as well save your money for the 2026 World Cup then...
FIFA sets the prices, not Ticketmaster. I do worry however that there won’t be any lotteries or applications in 2026.
I am assuming all stadiums chosen were already partnered with Ticketmaster. Looks like variable pricing per game on top of surge pricing based on demand. Like Copa America, the FIFA site will probably have the list of games with links to Ticketmaster for purchasing. Hopefully I am wrong and Ticketmaster will only manage the tickets.
This makes sense! Another scenario would be individual clubs allocating their exclusive tickets from their websites if you have registered like they have done in the past. I hope Ticketmaster does not control the pricing...
