Watched Benfica beat Bayern for the first time in their history in 96 degree heat and it was a great game!
As bad as it was for Boca they were eliminated already so it's arguably cooler that the underdog got a goal and a result.
Well this all depends on Fifa's ultimate goal is. Do they simply want to scrape UEFA's knees or do they want to cut UEFA off at their nuts? If its' the latter Fifa could hold this thing every two years and come up with some qualification scenarios for league champs from the biggest leagues in the world. Or they have the CWC every 4 years, and then have qualification 2 leg playoffs between league winners or something. Expand to 48 teams, keep the original qualification for the 32 clubs like this years edition, and then hold those 2 leg playoffs to determine the other 16 teams. Don't underestimate Fifa's desire to knock UEFA down a few pegs, and also sifon off some money from their cash flow as well.
Why are the Europeans whining non stop about the weather and the fields? Everyone is playing in the same weather. Everyone is playing on the same fields. And do they think it'll be much cooler when Brazil or Spain hosts? Just unbearable whining from both fans and players. Expect much more of this next year.
Benfica won their group. I think we wrote off the entire Portuguese league based on one result against Miami.
Well Boca which couldn't beat an amateur team also had a 2-0 lead on them at one point and held on to a draw.
I'm impressed with your trivia skills. To bad we're not at a bar and able to win some cold Michelob Ultra drafts, sponsors of the FIFA 2025 Club World Cup.
In summary - for LAFC. They excelled when they got the MLS Leagues Cup treatment in the play-in against Club America. Not so much once they got the Liga MX Leagues Cup treatment in the tournament proper. (I.e. three different away venues in nine days)
Good results against Chelsea and Flamengo. Bad half day at the office in the second half against Tunis. Overall slightly worse than expected.
