With Inter Miami being sort of a South American select side grafted onto MLS, if you count them as South American too, CONMEBOL is really shining at this thing. It’s like the 2014 World Cup in that way. joking/not joking
FIFA and CONCACAF agreed to split the country originally to keep travel time down and to prevent cannibalizing each other's event too much, with the CWC in the Eastern half except for Seattle's games so they could play at home and the Gold Cup mostly in the Western half. Not sure when/why the Rose Bowl got added.
It was included when the other venues were announced in September, presumably to complement Lumen Field as part of a West Coast group.
What a game Fluminense and Ulsan gave. Also....he ain't wrong. MLS supporter groups should get some ideas 1936546128339575168 is not a valid tweet id
The CWC completely ruined the gold cup for me. Every gold cup game I've watched so far has been just crap.
When do you play the Gold Cup so they don’t overlap? Liga MX kicks off July 11 and Leagues Cup starts July 29.
In January instead of Camp Cupcake. Its not like top national teams are bringing their star club players who are alredy playing in the CWC so they could easily play it then.
Great idea, actually. AFCON and the Asian Cup are already in January, no reason the Gold Cup couldn’t be thrown in too.
As I recall, the CONCACAF Gold Cup was played in February from 1996 to 2002. Then it switched. Anyway, as it is, it seems like most fans care about the CWC as opposed to the national team tournament.
I heard the Tenemos que ganar chant from either El Salvador or Honduras fans tonight. So is it authentic when they do it but not when MLS supporters do it?
Given your judgement that seems a point in the Gold Cups' favor. Blame FIFA. This has been the established window and location for the Gold Cup for a while. Then FIFA decided to drop their newest money-making scheme right on top of it.
Tuned into my USL club tonight and enjoyed it fully. Definite contrast to the big CWC matches, but cool in its own right.
I wonder if there is a random casual from Pasadena who bought tickets to this game expecting a kick around and ended up in this cauldron!
Fans from South America are in their own league when it comes to chants. We have nothing close to this in CONCACAF. 1936547235472252989 is not a valid tweet id
