They have a decade as a club. You need a few generations before you get treated to that kind of support and trophies in the case as well.
His presence did make me note that if not for Davies’ injury, that flank would have been FC Dallas v. Vancouver Whitecaps.
And that's what creates fans not only from that city but from all over their country. Most of the clubs in CWC have won multiple times in their respective leagues and/or Continental tournaments. Winning does matter. It's the biggest marketing tool to create fans. This is what I'm talking about..... No, not Buenos Aires. Well organized defense and a goalkeeper with a hot hand. In 2014 they played mostly in their own half every game, but won two games on penalties and one by a 1-0 score. Also, in 2014 they had a full strength squad. In this CWC they're missing multiple players who couldn't get enough time off from their day jobs for the extended tournament.
Because they don't compete in any Oceania competitions. The rules for Candian teams changed a couple of years ago. Toronto qualified for the 2019 CCL via the Voyageurs Cup, the Red Bulls took their MLS spot. The news from Wales is that Welsh EFL teams are lobbying for entry into the Welsh Cup that would give them a path to UEFA competitions.
Also, ES Tunis is the most successful team in Tunisia from a metro area that includes 25% of the Tunisian population. The entire league operates within a 400 mile span. The distance from Nashville to L.A. is about the same as Tunis to Helsinki, Finland.
They are playing in a different Continent. They have fan base here. I'm really surprised. This is pretty impressive. I kind of feel jealous. Several of these fan bases are something else. Harry Kane on the atmosphere generated by Boca fans in Miami : "It was an incredible atmosphere, I loved playing in front of the fans. One of the best in my career for sure." pic.twitter.com/95UQQ5A1kn— Simon Evans (@sgevans) June 21, 2025 Kane praises the Boca fans.
Lafc was so bad that they erased any achievement that came from Miami and their win. Europe really doesn't care, that's the only reason they ever lose. Damn. I was getting pretty hyped about this tournament. Club America would've never let down the region like this. Damn LAFC!!!! Bailed out by a corrupt ref lol and still couldn't take it.

I think I know what we are liking about this event: it's like a mega crossover event! A lot of us like MLS, liga mx, liberatores, and separately the euro leagues, and they're almost in different universes. And now here they are, playing each other! Awesome! But my mood is still soured by lafcs performance. Ugh!
I'm sure it’s been asked but I can't find any information in the threads or online….. Why aren't there any more CWC games played on the West Coast for the Knockout stages of this tournament? I'm sure both the Rose Bowl and Lumen Field would sellout if games were played during the Round of 16, Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and Final? Does it have to do with TV time slots for overseas viewers?
There's a 150,000 Tunisians in the US, who have had plenty of time to organize. It's also a great opportunity for Tunisians to visit the US and/or catch up with relatives and catch a few games. It's possibly a once in a lifetime thing. If I was still in New York and Notts County were playing some friendlies on the West Coast, and I knew in plenty of time to book vacation, I'd fly out and see them because it's a one off thing I'd probably never see again. @crookeddy go tell your boss you need the next two weeks off. See what he or she says.
Wasn't there an agreement with CONCACAF that FIFA would focus on the east coast and the Gold Cup would be in the west? But then they used the Rose Bowl and Lumen Field anyway. I guess they'd already picked venues before LAFC qualified.
Club America let down Concacaf several times in the old format. Never achieved third place which isn't a good look for the record Concacaf champions. MLS is now winless in three games against African opposition: 2022 CWC | Seattle Sounder - Al Ahly 0:1 (Tangier, Morocco) 2025 CWC | Inter Miami - Al Ahly 0:0 (Miami, USA) 2025 CWC | LAFC - Espérance de Tunis 0:1 (Nashville, USA) And one of them was in the MLS home market.
It's a bit complicated, and Auckland City shares FIFA prize money with the rest of the New Zealand league (so the whole league is invested and benefits), but things are about to change: https://www.news.com.au/sport/footb...p/news-story/6050712b7d94c6dd6f89bf741669849c But that 2014 Auckland City side was quite special:
'dolo doesn't have the best record in big games so I'm not surprised. Oh well, I'm not a LAFC fan so no big deal.
On that note, TNS of Wales offered to share their UEFA Conference League earnings with the rest of the Cymru Premier. TNS don't need the money. They've won 12 of the last 15 titles. Plus their home stadium is in England.
