You might be underrating the insanity of the atmosphere in South America. MLS has occasionally struggled to win away in empty stadiums in Central America. How would they do at La Bombanera?

I do think MLS teams would do well at home though.

Ok so Botafogo had to forgo celebrating their title wins to go play in the intercontinental cup where they got blown out by Pachuca, now they fly home and start celebrating? I would think that this loss would kind of hurt their celebratory mood...

Man, all these matches in the Middle East have pretty bad attendance when UEFA isn't playing. Move this tournament to Japan where they showed up for everything...

You underrating MLS just like Liga MX was and still is being underrated. How would they do in La Bombonera? They'll get used to it playing constantly, if they were to join.

For being a Liga MX fan you sure do make excuses for their win. Pachuca was inactive for several weeks. You even mentioned that in previous post and thought Botafogo was going to easily beat Pachuca. Don't understand why Liga MX fans are downplaying their own league.

It’s still been a fantastic season for them. First Libertadores in club history and first league title in nearly 30 years.

While I have some interest in Liga MX, I wouldn’t exactly call myself a fan. I’m a fan of international club competitions, those that are played in a balanced format anyway. I also attend the Asian Champions League whenever I can.

Where did I say Botafogo was going to beat Pachuca with ease? Quite the opposite.

I thought I read somewhere you posted "if you want to see Botafogo vs Al Ahly...." assuming Pachuca had no chance but it must of being somewhere else by someone else.

Either way. Liga MX can certainly be considered the best league in the Americas. It can be debated but results favor them. Not bad for MLS constantly competing against them.

To me it’s still the Brasileirão in the Americas. Six Libertadores in a row, the last two by first time winners. 2023 winners Fluminense nearly got relegated this weekend. Also the last three non-European club world champions. More recently, Flamengo and Palmeiras took Liverpool and Chelsea to extra time. By comparison, Liga MX has been rather underwhelming at the CWC (2020 Tigres excluded).

They'll meet more and more this time if they keep this format where CCC champ faces off vs Libertadores champs. If Liga MX keeps on beating the Libertadores champions I don't know how anyone can keep on saying Brazil is better than Liga MX.

I don't see anyone beating the Brasileiro clubs in Libertadores any time soon just like I don't see MLS winning CCC any time soon. So both leagues facing each other is a given.

Helps that the Argentine Primera is struggling financially which has led to a huge exodus of players. Brasiliera might be challenging Ligue Un (minus PSG) for 5th best league globally.

Really? The more bites at the Cherry MLS teams get, they'll eventually win it again. It wouldn't be a surprise if a MLS team wins CCC in the next 2-3 years. Especially with the LA teams and Miami being involved in it.

Maybe under the old format. Under this new one it guarantees that the best Liga MX teams are always in it. Probably more if they ever win Leagues Cup spots. But I guess we will see in the next few years.

Usmnt had how long to learn to will in Costa Rica? Still can't do it, and the gap between USA and crc is larger than the gap between a random MLS team and saprissa. But we're not talking about saprissa we're talking about a regional super club boca juniors.

Liga MX teams also lose in Central America every now and then. You aren't going to say because they lose they won't hang in South America, right? And the NT has nothing to do with a domestic league.

It's not serious to say that Liga MX is better than Brasileirao because Pachuca beat Botafogo.
Played your last game on sunday, the one that gave you a league title after 30 years, and then flying from Brazil to Qatar to play on wednesday, it's not a serious comparison.

    2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup

    M1 | 22.09.24 | Al Ain - Auckland City 6:2 (Playoff) - Highlights
    M2 | 29.10.24 | Al Ahly - Al Ain 3:0 (African-Asian-Pacific Cup) - Highlights
    M3 | 11.12.24 | Botafogo FR - CF Pachuca 0:3 (Derby of the Americas) - Highlights
    M4 | 14.12.24 | CF Pachuca - Al Ahly (Challenger Cup)
    M5 | 18.12.24 | Real Madrid - Winner M4 (Final)

It's the third time Al Ahly meets the Concacaf representative in the last four years:

    2021 CWC: Al Ahly - Monterrey 1:0
2022 CWC: Seattle Sounders - Al Ahly 0:1

The match between Al Ahly and Rayados, played in February 2022, has an interesting story attached to it. Since Egypt made the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, played at the same time, several Al Ahly players missed the CWC game. But Al Ahly still won (not a good look for Monterrey).

With the 2025 CWC, FIFA made sure to cover this scenario in the regulations. It was made explicitly clear that participating clubs do not have to release players for national team duty happening at the same time. CWC players will not be playing in the Gold Cup.

Pachuca advance in a tense penalty shootout and will meet Real Madrid for the 2024 club world title.

Real Madrid up 1:0 at halftime thanks to a Mbappe goal. Pachuca started well but face an uphill battle now.

So that means Real Madrid are better than Columbus?
