I sort of thought Max has been a bit quieter this year, but 5 goal contributions is pretty good. I also think he’s been within a few inches for a few more goals.
We might still get that early transfer window. Maybe Tall can get a 9 in. I have asked US Soccer for clarity on if they will or won’t sanction the special, mini transfer window before CWC (that FIFA will allow) for weeks and have not gotten a definitive answer. That window would open in less than a month. It was officially approved by FIFA in March. https://t.co/9BrFjdEgV9— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) May 6, 2025
He was upset that Philly wasn’t going to give him a new contract , so it makes sense at his age to get another big pay day and for us to pay that much in a transfer fee it makes sense that we would want him for longer. a win win
Federations with teams in the CWC. It will apply to all teams in those federations I dont know what MLS will do if USSF approves it. Canadian teams will be stuck
Babe, wake up. Updated roster profiles from MLS dropped. Here be the Crew: Additional notes here: https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/majo...ofiles-following-2025-primary-transfer-window Also, le GAM list:
Indirectly related I suppose. I found this interesting. I was shocked at Austin. But check out little ol' Columbus, Ohio. Three quarters of a Billion dollars! We've come a long way baby. https://www.foxsports.com/stories/s...jpN610HpaOB91czcFA_aem_tIY2-ED2YCSZ3NHYzPFIJQ
"MLS can’t match the revenue of top European clubs, but it has the advantage on cost controls, modern stadiums and a single-entity structure that fosters ownership collaboration," Sportico’s Kurt Badenhausen wrote. "The lack of relegation also sets a floor for MLS values that has risen dramatically over the past decade." @Beau Dure -- didn't you say something recently about how the league dumped single-entity 20 or so years ago?
The fact is that a lot of teams in a lot of leagues worldwide wish they had the system that MLS has. As a money play, it's very attractive.
It's safe to say the notion of "single entity" has evolved quite a bit from "Sunil Gulati picks a lot of the players on each team like a U-12 rec league commissioner" to "we share broadcast revenue and have a complex system of GAM, TAM, BAMBAM and JAM as a means of ensuring at least a modicum of parity." The old single-entity structure survived a court challenge -- one Jeff Kessler still seems hell-bent on avenging. It's a safe bet it would survive another one today.
On my list I was tracking only Hagen was listed wrong because I forgot to update the list when he got that extension that said there is a few important things we should talk about which is guys on the last year of their contract or guys who could have their options declined. 2026 Season Out of Contract : Aziel Jackson Rudy Camacho Abraham Romero Evan Bush This offseason Options we could decline: Ibrahim Aliyu Jacen Russell-Rowe Amar Sejdić Lassi Lappalainen Derrick Jones Cesar Ruvalcaba Darlington Nagbe Steven Moreira out of contract : AZ- in MLS he can’t hit free agency and as a prospect I’m not sure he has any good options internationally. That said as a 23 year old with potential I would expect us to give him a new contract. When we got him we paid in the exchange $650,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM). STL received a guaranteed $325,000 in 2024 GAM and $325,000 in 2025 GAM for Jackson, while an additional plus up to $250,000 in conditional GAM if certain performance metrics are met. We don’t know those metrics but it shouldn’t impact the decision. 99% chance he is back Rudy Camacho - He will not be back in 2025 in my opinion. 104k is the veteran minimum and seems he would want more as we have cleared him to play but the rumor we heard was he doesn’t think he is 100% and he doesn’t want to go out there and look bad. Unless he wants to take a lot less money to be in Columbus as a back up which might take a change of heart I’d say about a 1% chance he is back. Abraham Romero- we have plenty of younger better options there is a zero percent chance he is back. At 27 he isn’t good enough to be a #2 GK in MLS. If he does well in USL someone might give him a chance if they lack Gk depth but we don’t have that issue anymore. Evan Bush- perfect #3 GK and as long as he is healthy he will get around the 104k minimum so the question is does he want to retire or keep playing? He is 39 and unless an opportunity arises for him to get more minutes in a #2 role he should be back. I’d say about 50% chance he is back options that could be declined: Ibrahim Aliyu - young & new to the team very unlikely he would be declined , 99% he will be here next season Jacen Russell-Rowe- He could get a new contract or if we get a DP someone could try to buy him from us but he won’t get his option declined. 75% chance he will be here at the start of next season. Amar Sejdić- We haven’t seen him much but his option won’t be declined he seems like a good fit as a back up CM with experience. 99% chance he is back to start 2026. Lassi Lappalainen- Unless injuries persist he should be back. We finally saw him very briefly and Nancy doesn’t give up on you unless you have maturity issues so 99% chance he will be back. Don’t know his new contract numbers so that could be a factor but I would guess he makes less than the 750k he was getting from MTL last year. Without knowing the contract numbers I’d say 99% chance he is back. Derrick Jones- He could be gone this summer if a team needs a back up CM who runs a system more suitable for him. But 1% chance he is back next year. But this contract will be declined 100% or Tall is an idiot. If Nancy likes him maybe he takes a vet minimum but most likely he is looking for a new team which might be in the USL if I’m honest. Cesar Ruvalcaba- young and on a first contract , he is 100% back and has looked good in his few opportunities to the point Herrera appears to be behind him for RCB minutes. Darlington Nagbe- Will he retire at seasons end? Definitely possible and my take on his contract is well documented and I’ll quadruple down that if his number is a DP number he should be declined and we should give him a new TAM level contract. He is an all time great but as a GM you have to put the player on a contract that makes sense. Nagbe will play here as long as he wants but that seems like 50% chance he is back next season. I will bash Tall like I bashed Bez if we continue to give Nagbe DP $. I hope we limit his minutes and extend his career because he is an all time great and last year we ran him into the ground. I don’t think Nagbe is just playing for money so in no way do I think he would leave Columbus for more money, he is the ultimate team player but you can’t keep paying him DP money. He was underpaid for many years but it’s not our obligation to overpay him and limit our options to improve the squad. Steven Moreira - 100% you bring him back he is a key starter at age 30. Now the question in the future would be how long do you extend him and at what cost. ??? On loan : Andrés Herrera 25 June ( PT 27,28O) I don’t understand fully how the loan works and with lack of clarity and not knowing % of the contract we pay it’s hard for me to have an opinion. But he could be gone this summer as he doesn’t contribute much and River Plate overpaid him and apparently has him till 2028. So this is the most intriguing player from a contract standpoint.
Any updates on Rudy Camacho man savage ? How much has he been practicing if we cleared him , ik it was said he didn’t feel 100% but it would of been nice to have him play vrs MTL or any team with bigger but not super fast strikers. I’m just wondering if there is any possibility we can ship him elsewhere for maybe 50k to a team who needs a CB but until he plays we would be lucky to get 50 cents or however much burnt French toast cost these days.
Gazdag, and to a lesser extent Rossi, are players who seem better suited playing off a stud attacker rather than attempting to BE the stud attacker/focal point of the defense. Neither are elite in terms of speed, power, aerial prowess, dribbling, or creative passing. But Rossi has good quickness, is a good dribbler, and a good combiner. He also makes timely runs. Gazdag is less athletic, bigger, but also is tidy and makes good runs. If there was a stud attacker to draw eyes and create space, I think he could excel. Rossi as well. JRR has been fine. But he does not uave that level of gravity to bend the D. If we can land that kind of player this summer, then I think the whole dynamic shifts. Getting the first one will also help.
