I’m not going look it up but I called the Yeboah to SD move this past summer when Nancy had no interest in playing the man. Yaw’s connection to Right to Dream was too strong for this not to happen. Good luck to him in beautiful San Diego.
Sounds like it’s a done deal , definitely any player not starting at their club would take a shot in San Diego. It will be a good move for Yaw and Idk what other players around the league had declined contracts but this is why they only need 5 picks. You never know he might not be the only Crew player that ends up in San Diego.
If we are talking expansion draft, the mainstream MLS media only called the two pick and trades. The first 3 were not reporter, and the Yaw pick was never confirmed by guys like Bogert, Goff. Yaw is still going to SD. Probably some time today
That's how we got Crew Legend and TFC Slayer (who ironically was the Expansion side that picked him), Will Hesmer on the team.
Does anybody have any insider information on Cucho to Monterrey rumors that are swirling around? is this any more legitimate than previous rumors about him leaving? 1867417950007046301 is not a valid tweet id @DiegoArmaMedina reports that Nelson Deossa and Juan Camilo “Cucho” Hernández are close to becoming reinforcements for Rayados Edit: hope it’s just his agent posturing for a salary increase
I'm not expert by any means but Cucho would seem to be an incredible salary stretch for CF Monterray.
Sergio Canales is reported to make $5 million+ so they can afford Cucho. Rayados has more money than anyone in Liga MX right now. There has been so much smoke around this I’d find in hard to believe if this doesn’t eventually happen. Dude wants to play in the World Cup, and no matter what people here (on BS on in the US generally) wanna think, MLS isn’t respected by many foreign coaches.
Isn't there a quote from Cucho that says if the Crew will match the money he'd prefer to stay? IIRC he makes just short of $3mm per. The Crew ought to be able to at least go to 5. Fratboi is paying Driussi 6.
We’ll see. Dudes in sports say shit all the time, stuff turns out to be true about 2% of the time. If Cucho wanted to stay, I’m sure a deal would be done already, or he’d just come out and say it. Neither has happened, so far.
Maybe Meddlin’ Truck Stop Jimmy will trade Cucho to Rayados for three years’ worth of superdraft and re-entry draft picks for the rights to sign Jozy Altidore.
I wouldn’t blame Cucho one bit for exactly this reason. The chance to play some massive European clubs in competitive matches while getting a hefty pay raise to play for a much larger club than anything MLS has to offer (even though we are Massive) is almost impossible to pass up. A classic Cucho performance in the CWC would very likely raise quite a few eyebrows over in Europe and very possibly get him a favorable offer. I want him to stay. He’s a joy to watch. But at the same time, a $20m+ transfer fee for Cucho is enough to net us $10m on his time here, which is potentially enough to net us two impact players if we play our cards right. Also, Cucho would absolutely terrorize LMX. His style of play fits the league perfectly. I would tune into every game possible to watch.
He’s made three appearances total in the last 24 months, and was an unused sub on one other occasion. One of his appearances was a January camp friendly against the US in which Colombia used a roster almost exclusively made up of domestic based players. He’s been called up as an insurance player recently in case someone gets injured in training, but has not been named to the game day squad. I think it’s safe to say he wants better and feels like he deserves better. He’s barely hanging on to the fringe of the national team roster and he wants that to change.
He had a disciplinary issue and was not called up last window. Not to mention, he's behind Luis Diaz and probably someone else at that position.
So either the Crew/MLS sources are lying, or Monterrey is. This has been a story for months, with specific and consistent details. It’s not like Monterrey scouting a MLS striker in Ohio is unreasonable, they bought Vasquez from Cincy last year.
