Yeah go ahead and move it back. Perfect encapsulation of the season tonight. Score 5 on the road and somehow the vibes are still bad. Defensively this team is atrocious. There is no switch to be flipped, or reasonable thought that this team will be competitive in the playoffs. That’s just reality.
Meanwhile Nancy gives bullshit reasons why we don’t sign a FA CB this week. This roster has been mismanaged more than operation Iraqi Freedom. (Doing my best Dennis Miller).
Of course I do. That's one of the primary pruposes of having an MLSNP team. But my comment wasn't about team tactics, It was about the roster make-up of Crew 2. How we structure the overall roster and who made those decisions. It was implied that it was all Tall's doing, and I questioned that. It's inconceivable to me that Nancy doesn't have a say in the types of players who are on the Crew 2 roster.
I wonder if the static squad of core performers since last season, chambost, gazdag, and wes aside have created some stagnant air in the locker room. Players are locked into their roles. There is far less apparent competition than there was the last two years where WB and the third head of the attacking trident changed frequently. Where is the competition now at this stage. Worse yet, the players know by losing cucho that they could not reach the mountain top this season and reach new heights. The winning in the early part of season just pushed off the bad vibes. No one is talking to each other. No one is leading.
Who could have predicted that overusing players all season due to lack of squad depth would come back to bite us??? (The answer is most of us - https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/m...1-2-22-25-7-30p.2134214/page-14#post-42818938)
MRI today for Rossi, but they, fingers crossed, don’t believe it’s a complete tear. Sadly, Sean needs 4+ more weeks off according to the latest assessment.
I mean, we got a bumper crop of players from Crew 2 right off the bat and since then it has been a freaking trickle... what's up with that? Did we decide to change our philosophy that badly that we were like "nah, we're ok with scrubs on NextPro"? I mean, I've read some of the other posts and have seen some of the statements but it all just seems dumb by the team when shit like this arises. There is now no help when we need it.
As I said in the other thread, even a partial tear is a big risk for a forward who tracks back all the time, he will be one skip, slip, twist, fall from a full thickness tear and then we are totally hosed until next season. He will have to take it easy and play as more of a target forward, let someone else track back and collect the ball and bring it forward to make the plays, like, say... Gazdag...
Well...they told a bunch of Crew 2 guys they were important to the team/system, then dumped them on their asses in favor of high school kids who are all basically 14-16. Those kids are going up against guys who are more like 18-21. So yeah, it'll probably be a few years until Crew 2 is helpful.
Always sounds like a successful tool for winning. Why the hell would you have what amounts to a second team for a MLS team that consists of players who should be part of the Academy system? I didn't think that MLSNP was supposed to substitute for the U18 part of an Academy...
It's supposed to be the last step of development. The problem being that Tony Queso ruined the entire academy/pyramid (in addition to everything else), so they brought in a bunch of USL guys to act as ringers. Instead of keeping them around maybe another year, they brought in academy kids who clearly weren't ready. So yeah, they go from MLS NP Cup champs to MLS NP Cup finalists to a playoff team to one of the first teams eliminated.
Because it's cheaper than bringing in guys who are a little older and can actually compete. Haslam sports made a conscious decision to try and raise their own stars from youngsters rather than spend money. In theory it's a sound plan. I'm sure the assholes in Cleveland love it.
Malte knew Wes and talked with him throughout the spring https://www.dispatch.com/story/spor...ueanthem&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter
