Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but unless it’s personal experience/first hand knowledge, I’d take it with a grain of salt. What I can say is that my experience with Dr Pete has been very positive. Past players/co workers (Berhalter, McBride etc etc) from when he was the team doctor seem to like him as well. A bunch of old players flew in/showed up to surprise him when he purchased the team and a lot of them have attended his daughters’ weddings too. There seems to be genuine affection there. Current players/ coaching staff appear to like him as well although he’s more on the admin side now. Does this mean he’s a saint, no, but I can say that he’s passionate about the Crew.
Sorry, not second guessing anyone, but I’m ignorant of Dr Pete’s involvement with SPONSOR23. I obv know of the situation/f*ck up, but was unaware that he was the architect of it somehow. Could someone please fill me in on the details?
I agree he's a good guy and very passionate about the Crew (& MLS as a whole) but when push comes to shove he's always going to look out for the bottom line above all else - including the fans.
He and his staff were sharing it freely with any patient who asked about how the Crew were doing or how they could get tickets for the final.
Official that sean is out. I know his family went to the game in Harrison. Feel bad. The usmnt is at HCS/Ohio Health rn. At OHPC aka #Crew96 HQ for #USMNT training.Bummer for Sean Zawadzki - will not train due to injury. pic.twitter.com/RCh5JMR7i7— Chris Doran (@ChrisDoran18) September 8, 2025
Well at least Tall and Nancy have built such a deep roster that we can sustain an injury or two....oh wait...
Okay, but when you say he isn't the saint people think he is, that carries a connotation with it that suggest he's less than "a good guy". Doubt much of anyone thinks he's actually a saint, so it goes without saying. And, yes, as an owner he's going to be looking out for the bottom line. That's kinda his job.
Well the rooster did a bust up today on dr. Pete's brother. But the discussion should be in the local politics thread. Also, Dr. Pete's father passed away last month.
Granted. What I've heard, and gleaned from just being a citizen of Crew Soccer Nation, is that there's a prevailing belief that Dr. Pete wouldn't do things like raise ticket prices or sell off fan-favorite players or take other "unpopular" actions the way the Haslam's have.
Not surprised that a businessman dependent on government approval for certain deals would donate to the only republican candidate running in a very red state. It may be a cold take, but it’s an effective strategy. I like Amy, but she stands a snowballs chance.
It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Luke 18:25 quoting Jesus.
Gazdag and Nagbe aren't remotely the same player. If you yhink they are your soccer IQ is smaller than your shoe size.
SDFC also interested. Varas is in charge there and is familiar with him from his USYNT days. I doubt we win this one
I hope he doesn’t want more money to play for Columbus vs other teams, because then we’ll by law have to pass on him as I’ve come to learn.
Moreira went the full 90 again and they beat Cameroon! With 2 games to go, they have a 4-point lead over Cameroon and a 5-point lead over Libya. Final 2 games are Libya and then last-place Eswatini. They should be able to get 3 points vs Eswatini, but I'm sure they'd prefer to finish it against Libya.
Maybe everyone else knew this but Eswatini was formerly Swaziland. The King, on the occasion of marrying his 14th wife, decided to change it.
