Hmm I didnt think about that. Like in a typical transfer, the players signs a new contract when he joins your club. But the mls Cashfer is like a trade for cash considerations, so the player remains on the same contract. How would that apply if a player signs an extention? Ill ask around
As with so many things MLS, there's really no way to know for sure, unless the Dispatch asks the question or a buy-down actually occurs.
That would be a great strategy if the plan is to have STM renewals crater and not need to worry about that pesky wait list anymore.
We are massive The Black & Glow is Box Office 🦠Darlington Nagbe ranks 5th and Diego Rossi ranks 10th in MLS in player jersey sales. 🛒: https://t.co/YjpQOnUFIw pic.twitter.com/t0RRlcHPhi— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) June 18, 2025 Nagbe is 5th and Diego 10th in jersey sales
Not really, i expect big things next year but he isn’t suppose to be the star. We need to make our star signing this summer and hopefully it will all start to click
I miss Lucas Zelerayan. The type of player where every time he touches the ball, you inch up to the edge of your seat. What’s he gonna do with it? Dribble, pass, shoot, Score??!! That’s what dynamic players offer. Rossi is halfway there but just doesn’t move the needle. This team lacks entertainers. I think it’s why I’m pretty ho hum about this season. It’s just not entertaining.
I think we still play attractive entertaining football the issue is we lack that top end quality , the superstar Like Cucho & LZ. We need a MVP Caliber attacker to start with Rossi & Gazdag
. I think it’s why I’m pretty ho hum about this season. It’s just not entertaining. Hard to stay really interested this season. Big shoes to fill and not a Rumor in sight. I'm willing to bet the next "star" will be a bit of a let down compared to Lucas and Cucho. The GM certainly doesn't seem as dynamic as Bez.
Pretty sad to watch Cincy, a team that spent millions and millions in the winter, announce a u22 in the summer before the window is even open while we have crickets. Issa has sucked a lot of fun out of the organization for me.
Gazdag is making 2.597 million. I wonder if that figure includes his 10% transfer fee kicker. Either way, that would only be 400k.
That Schulte pay raise whoa 957k Per givemesport/bogert, Crew are 20th in salary spend. Our DPs aren't each making 5+ million, so that can skew things. https://www.givemesport.com/mls-salary-release-highest-spending-teams-of-2025-revealed/
Got any lotto numbers I should try or see if Gazdag scores tonight? (Side note, the 3rd kits come out July 16 per some team's twitter account)
How much of this do you feel is an Issa thing versus how much may be due to ownership? The wildcard here being Nancy. We know Bez left for a great opportunity. Still, when that happened I think the assumption in here was that Jimmy would have given him what he needed to keep the club competitive. Was that true, or has perhaps that changed somewhat? I believe it was you who mentioned that Jimmy needed to be convinced not to cut funding for the academy. I mean, Jimmy's a rich guy, but that doesn't maker him smart. Issa being a shadow of Bez would be a problem for us. But an owner who's seen sell-out after sell-out, won hardware only a few years into becoming an owner, and might not fully believe you need to keep spending big (by MLS standards) money in order to remain competitive and sustain ticket demand, would be a much bigger problem. I know Bez got that amazing job and may have left the organization simply because it was too good a deal to pass up. But I can't help wondering if he may have had his doubts about Jimmy's long-term commitment to supporting bringing in the type of players that Bez had acquired throughout his career in MLS. Re: the Nancy wildcard, we've heard more than once just how picky he is when acquiring players. And we've seen more than once players come here having been productive starters at other clubs, struggle to even get playing time here. Who knows, maybe Nancy trusted Bez's judgement more than he does Tall's. All I know for sure is that the summer window opens in four weeks and we've heard nothing from the club about looming acquisitions.
I can't directly speak to that since most of my sources are no longer with the organization but the same guys who used to gush over Bez have just about the opposite opinion of Issa. I previously told you I had been told that he's elite at self promotion but not much else. Not ideal! As for what you said about the academy, I don't think that was me. The Haslams have never been shy about spending here and honestly it's always been Dee not Jimmy that made the decisions.
You didn't ask me, but I'm on the fence about renewing for next year, so... It's because they are kicking me out of my seat, turning it VIP and asking for 4x the cost (from $1500 to $6000). At the same time, because they are sold out of season tickets, they don't have anywhere comparable to move me and my 7 friends. Some of those friends could afford to spend a little more, some can barely afford the current cost, so finding a place we all will be happy with is nearly impossible. If the group breaks up, I won't see much of most them anymore, we don't tailgate together like we used to. If I can't go and see my friends 17 times a year, it's not worth it. I hope that they can figure it out for me, but I'm not counting on it.
Raise in price Less talent on roster Less home games And if I can’t go to a match the resale market isn’t what it was two years ago.
The whole Crew roster costs less than individual NFL or NBA players. I doubt Jimmy is blinking at the cost.
