The three US group games with venues, dates, local time and ticketing links are: United States vs. Trinidad and Tobago Sun., June 15, 3:00 pm PayPal Park, San Jose, CA United States vs. Saudi Arabia Thurs., June 19, 8:15 pm Q2 Stadium, Austin, TX United States vs. Haiti Sun., June 22, 6:00 pm AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX I am in for the San Jose match only. The other two are too much hassle and expense, especially since I am also going to three other group stage matches at PayPal Park and to a Semifinal at Levi's Stadium. Quarterfinals are in Glendale, AZ on June 28 or in Minneapolis on June 29. Semifinals are in St. Louis and Santa Clara, CA on July 2. The Final is in Houston on July 6. Concacaf will decide which games go to which venue for the Quarters after the group stage finishes and for the Semis after the QF matches, which makes conditional travel more difficult. I am sure they want Mexico to win Group A and the US to win group D. Mexico would go to Glendale and Santa Clara. The US would go to Minneapolis and St. Louis. The best laid plans...... Here is the full schedule explanation: https://www.concacaf.com/en/gold-cu...ule-for-this-summer-s-2025-concacaf-gold-cup/
Insiders presale started yesterday (4/14). Ticket prices at least look a bit more reasonable than for Copa and Nation's League. Behind the goals seems to be in the $50-75 range depending on stadium.
Since the USA is the #4 seed, it makes sense they would face the #1 seed (Mexico) in the Semis at Levi's Stadium, ASSuming they both win their groups. Group A and D play earlier in the group stage and probably quarters, so they'd play the earlier Semi, yes? I was able to get a couple tickets to that semi at Levi's using the US Soccer presale code, just in case. Worst-case, I should be able to sell off those tickets to some Mexican fans if the USMNT doesn't show up there.
Oops, now it makes sense, of course CONCACAF wanted to setup USAvMEX in the final despite the USA being #4: (QF1: 1D vs. 2A, QF2: 1A vs. 2D, QF3: 1C vs. 2B, and QF4: 1B vs. 2C). WQF1 (USA-1D) vs. WQF4 and WQF2 (MEX-1A) vs. WQF3 Or, it could be USA v MEX in the QFs if one of them gets a #2 seed! LOL.
Their plan backfires if one of US or Mex stumbles in the group stage and finish 2nd, then they'll have to play each other in the QF.
Trying to do Austin and Dallas group stage games. Would love SJ game but have some conflicts that weekend.
Well, that's a pretty raw deal. Missing SJ for Austin and Dallas, both near the bottom of my city rankings. I looked at skipping the June 20 match at PayPal (Jamaica vs. Guadaloupe) and going to the US games in Texas. One could catch a lot of games including the bookend US matches on June 19 and June 22 (part of a doubleheader). There's a game in Austin on June 20 and a doubleheader in Houston on June 21. Flix has cheap (about $50) buses between Austin and Houston and between Houston and DFW.
That AT&T stadium game is going to be EMPTY. Maybe 10,000 people in that massive stadium. Horrible look.
Remember that it's a doubleheader. The Dominican and Surinamese supporters ought to boost attendance....quite a bit.
I am tempted to go to Houston for the Final. Even though I am not confident about the team making it there. I have never been to Texas so at least there's BBQ I could look forward to as possible consolation.
I did just book an Austin trip with the understanding we're sending an A Team to this. Hopefully that's true, though I've heard Austin is still a fun place to spend a weekend anyway
I will be the first person to say "Fire Pochettino" if we do not send the "A" team. It would be a very dumb move to send an alternate roster.
It’ll be an A team, minus those with CWC duty (McKennie, Weah, maybe Gio?) and any players injured or recovering from injury. I think Poch has said as much, though I can’t seem to find where.
A Colombian media outlet is reporting today that Clubs in the Club World Cup must release players who are called up for International duty. I am not sure how credible that report is but it does make things more interesting.
Update, in the FIFA competition forum it has been explained that the Gold Cup would not require clubs' players released which I think is a bit bogus but it makes sense.
This Gold Cup should’ve been in July, like it often has been in the past. At a bare minimum to give it a period of full attention for fans and media. And players eliminated in the group stage could be available for their national teams, if it made sense for them to play (rather than rest).
I remember the days it was held in the winter. We could have done something like that to correlate it schedule wise with the African Cup.
In for the Final. I hope the team joins me unlike at the last two Concacaf finals I attended where Panama showed up instead.
Same here. I hope the USA makes it but not really confident they will. At least Houston has good BBQ as a consolation prize if we underachieve. I have also always wanted to go to Galveston so I am staying there and getting some beach days which is always nice.
I always look forward to going to local Gold Cup matches not involving the USMNT, if I'm lucky enough to be near a venue. This time I get to see USA vs. TRI, plus CUR v SLV, 2 days later, and JAM v GLP, all at PayPal Park. It's amazing what talent comes from Guadeloupe (GLP), but the really good ones go on to play for France (GLP is just a region of France). Here are four real good ones: Born in Guadeloupe: Lilian Thuram Parent born in Guadeloupe: Thierry Henry (dad is from there) Khéphren Thuram (dad is Lilian) Marcus Thuram (dad is Lilian)
