For future years- Robert Turdean started for Fire II today- youngest ever! Also- Dylan Borso added to U20 NT roster!
Guessing you mean 2025. If not, I do not understand your comment. Lots of reasons to be optimistic about 2026.
According the Fox Sports 2 chyron, the Fire are a +4000 to win MLS Cup (they were +10000 or something at the beginning of the season). If sports betting was legal in Wisconsin, I would put $10 down.
Franco looked good. Only two games but he certainly made an impact in the Rev's game. Franco seemed to complement Dje's play on the field also. I guess having veteran presence in the middle of the pitch is not a bad thing.
I'm optimistic that we will catch Columbus. They are slowly slipping down the ladder while we're inching up. 7th place let's go!
Good to see Poreba got a few minutes on the field. Caused me to ponder his future. Do we know what position he is likely to play on Fire I in the future? Prior to 2024, he primarily played CM. In his break thru 2024 year, he played farther forward and ST was his primary position, although he also played CAM, CM and a little Winger. So- is he likely to be a backup at ST, CAM, CAM or Winger next year? While a player able to play multiple positions is valuable to any team, it may be time to hone his skills at a specific position. The question- which position? Also- which of these would help the Fire the most?
He is very different from the profile of a backup ST espoused yesterday on 2026 Roster Speculation thread by Old Coach and Milicz. Are you viewing him as sole backup or in addition to another more experienced player? (Not disagreeing, just conversing)
Why, on earth, would we keep Barlow? (Other than to give Pdave and me a reason to post the Peanut Butter Jelly Time GIF) He is a waste of a roster spot
Not advocating that at all. Personally glad his contract expires at end of season. BUT, I am not the person who makes that decision. Assuming he is gone, do you advocate young prospect + MLS “veteran” approach or would the right young prospect be sufficient? ( kinda hard for a young player to be a “proven scorer”)
I just realized this is the OPTIMISM and not the 2026 Roster Thread. I am optimistic that the Fire will actually make the playoffs.
Was listening to the "mir97" podcast and they brought up an interesting question. Was the Fire's midfield play against the Revs the best seen since 2019? Not the entire game, but when Guti, Franco and Dje were out there. I'd have to say yes. Just seemed like the ball was in our half of the field the majority of the time. Not to mention three beautiful assists by the MFers(although Dje got screwed out of a hockey assist.) Thoughts?
I believe it was the first game against Charlotte this year that Guti was box to box and a beast that was pretty damn good too.
Soooo, we're discussing how the team is developing towards levels we haven't seen in years? I'll buy that for a dollar.
