Any one have an extra ticket for the opening match? I am arriving to Casablanca on Friday, happy to buy at face value or higher if need be.

The app wouldn't work on my brand new passport as it wouldn't scan the data in the back. I emailed Yalla and they said this was a problem with the new US passports and they were working on it. So I used my old just-cancelled passport, put in the data manually, and it scanned the data in the back fine. So was able to create a fan ID and buy tickets that way. Hopefully won't be a problem as I'm visa exempt to enter Morocco.

I guess Cameroon will disappoint, because of the whole chaos right now.
I will bet on DR Congo to go very far in the tournament, maybe they can reach the final. I don't if this would be a real surprise. Morocco will have the pressure, that they must win the tournament. Anything else is a disappointment. For other teams from North Africa (Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia) I don't have an idea how good they are at the moment.

I also don't know a lot about smaller teams. Maybe somebody knows which outsiders are worth to keep an eye on.

It really is crazy that two teams Ghana and Cape Verde didnt qualify for the AFCON but for the World Cup which is much more difficult

Regarding suprises its hard to guess. But one thing is for sure. A team we dont expect will reach the semifinals

no vuvuzela allowed for this AFCON
    [IMG]

Before when there was a WC we used to combine the qualifiers with the AFCON as they do in Asia.
In Africa it's always very difficult to win in away matches so the qualifiers can be very difficult to predict.

Yes of course, but both teams ended last in their group.
Cape Verde got 4 points in a group with Egypt, Botswana and Mauritania
Ghana got 3 points in a group with Angola, Sudan and Niger. No wins.
    That is kind of wierd

Ghana did disappoint but for Cap Vert it's not a surprise, it was a though group. The surprise would be to have gotten ahead of the disappointing Cameroun in the WC qualifiers.

I dont agree. Last AFCON Cape Verde won their group ahead of Egypt and Ghana. And made it to the quarter finals were they lost on penalties to South Africa. Them not qualifying for a 24 team AFCON is a big disappointment

yeah once in a while they do good results as do many teams in Africa but they are not a powerhouse like Egypt and Ghana.

Word of warning for anyone going to Agadir. If you're in block 205, the prescribed entry point of B1 won't get you there and literally noone in the stadium knew how to get there. We were led out of the gate, round the stadium and in via another turnstile, and they still couldn't get us there. So I would get there early. In the end we just grabbed empty seats elsewhere. Still the game was good.

Cameroon, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Burkinafaso, All bully other African teams and wilt in fear in the world stage. I just hope Morocco smokes all these imposters and be a Champion of CAF this time.

    LOL

Those teams combined have beaten Italy,, Spain, France, Brazil, Argentina, on the world stage, 3 of them making the world cup quarter finals.

Futher draws against Portugal, Germany, England,

Morocco's achievements were so closely matched by Cameroon, Ghana, and Senegal of the past.

I wouldn't call that "wilting in fear"

    Asinine remarks.

Some footage from the Mali v Senegal quarterfinal the other day. Not a great game or weather on the day, but a nice stadium and good day out...
