If I said Berg Johnsen is a great move but happened a month later than it should have, trading Salloi is the same but really is happening two months later than it should have. I like many of our moves but the timing is horrible.
I think it is a good deal if the add-ons are easily attainable. We are going to struggle early on anyway and if this helps load up the roster later I am all for it. I can’t see Daniel in the long term plans of Lee and we needed to move him before he left for free.
Two days before the season opener when there are already so many questions about the starting lineup is bonkers. Probably a decent move in the long run and it wasn't like we were going to be competitive over the next few months anyway, but the optics are ludicrous.
Okay, I love Davis. I think he's best in a double pivot 6 role, but I like him as an 8 and at times I really like him as a right back. HFS we cannot run him out as a second striker, though. Can we? As for Salloi, he will be missed. He is not the guy that can take the team on his back and drag them forward. But he is a guy that when surrounded by good footballers really can produce, both consistently and some stunning moments. His vision on passing in the box, his feet and touch in tight spaces, all class. Now, will he get that at Toronto? I do not know. I do not have any idea what they're like for this year. As for us, let's assume the deal ends up in the $700,000 to $1m range, top of the deal range: I guess getting something for a player soon out of contract is good work. But we don't need GAM right now. We have GAM. We need players. We need lots and lots of players. He's gone and we're back to needing four to six starters. I really hate our lack of urgency regarding this season. I mean, Lasse was a huge step forward, and this takes us back to where we were.
While this is the best thing to happened to SKC's LW position in an eternity, its another nail in the "this season appears pointless" coffin. Guess daddy's not around to protect him anymore.
Ask and I guess you receive.... We've upped our bid for Capita. Capita odejdzie do Sportingu Kansas City? 🇺🇸❗️ @wlodar85: Temat nie jest jeszcze martwy. Słyszę, że Radomiak chce przetrzymać Capitę jeszcze przez kilka meczów - okienko transferowe w MLS jest otwarte do 26 marca. Piłkarz mógłby jeszcze pomóc Radomiakowi i w którymś momencie -… pic.twitter.com/pc1JDeyRxb— Meczyki.pl (@Meczykipl) February 19, 2026
Of our potential signings, Capita and Or are the two I have the most interest in. Good to hear the Capita move might still be on. And we so need striker depth, also a good thing
Huge upside, he can just drive up to join SKC in a couple hours. If it goes through, he could be on the bench this weekend. We kind of need people on the bench
Can't believe how fast and with how little fanfare Salloi just vanished. I'm gonna miss the guy. Deal seems decent unless Daniel really drops the ball.
While I expect many of the incentives are reachable, I'd bet to get the full $1m, Salloi has to re-sign with Toronto. Same with Agada and RSL last year.
Agree, will also miss the guy. Given his stature inside the club and MLS (we can pronouce him as long dead all we want, but he had some great seasons for us, and was clearly still a starter), I'd guess this was something he wanted. TFC made the approach, I assume, and Salloi wanted to jump from what really looks like a sinking ship. We haven't heard from him on this yet. Buzz, you called him? To me, the overriding reason this move makes a lot of sense is that he was out of contract at the end of the year, and he was not the difference between success and failure in 2026. He would have left on a free in 11 months, so why not cash in now. We have failure written all over ourselves for 2026.
Knew this move was coming... His mom followed me on Twitter yesterday.... https://www.sportingkc.com/news/sporting-kc-signs-defender-ethan-bartlow-as-a-free-agent
One day from first game and there are 12 pictures of soccer players under the roster tab of the clubs official website. 3 pictures are keepers. I get tanking in the NBA or NFL. Tanking in MLS before the season even begins, not so much.
David Lee says he would characterize this window as a "Challenging window." Says things have not exactly gone to plan and that they had hoped things would be in a different place. #SportingKC— Daniel Sperry (@sperrydaniel94) February 20, 2026 Hard to not just want to respond with "you don't say."
I'd really love to follow up with "What kind of unexpected difficulties did you encounter, and are you developing some strategies now to avoid them in the summer and in future off-seasons?" Because that sounds like "oh some deals fell through, bummer!" when we need our guy to not put us in that position...
I mean I'm not sure you're going to get an answer on the 1st part. On the 2nd part, if they're not they're negligent and should be fired now.
