On the one hand DC releasing Schnegg is a surprise because although he’s not actually good, he was one of our top 5 players last year.

It’s also not a surprise because they brought in a left back recently.

At least Hector Herrera will be on TAM. Sebastian Cordova was a free agent after leaving Tigres. I thought someone in MLS would make a move for him but no one did. Would've fit in nicely in Houston as a DP or maybe even max TAM depending how much he was looking to get. Ended up in Toluca.

THIS, combined with Miami being where Messi wanted ... folks simply CANNOT fathom that things can be done w/out any bullshittery.

BOO HOO that you aren't a market that'll draw Henry, Ibra, or Messi ... but guess what, that's ALWAYS been the case w/your market. This isn't anything new. But uh, VAN of all places landed Mueller

So many good players around the world and some MLS fans complain because their team can't get a Son, Henry, Zlatan, Pirlo (lol), Messi etc. They always claim that LA and now Miami always get the good players but what I think they are trying to say is that they don't get the "marketable" players. Sure, these aging Euro stars IF they come to play they are good but there are also other good "low profile" players that perform like preinjury Josef Martinez, Cucho, Taty Castellanos, Thiago Almada, Giovinco, Evander etc. For the salary Miami was paying Busquets I would rather try to convince a player like Mauricio of Palmeiras or Pedro from Flamengo to come play in MLS. They might not be as known to MLS fans as a Busquets but they are in their prime years and they sure would perform in MLS much better, IMO. And many more players to chose from worldwide but some MLS fans are constantly complaining their "small market" team isn't getting an aging European star.

As a New York City fan I'd take a Carlton Morris.

Given the lack of signings by New York City, I'll post that an anonymous source has linked 34-year-old Ajax winger Steven Berghuis to Seattle Sounders and New York City.

    I'm grasping at straws here.

San Diego FC sporting director Tyler Heaps has confirmed that Hirving Lozano is NOT part of the club’s plans for the 2026 season.

Lozano played 34 games last season, scoring 11 goals and adding 9 assists.

It’s also worth noting that he had issues with coach Mikey Varas toward the end of the season, though it’s unclear whether that influenced the decision.

To truly dispel this silly rumor, sources told me that moving to MLS (whether it’s the Sounders or NYCFC) is not an option for Steven Berghuis and that there is zero truth to this.

KDB available this transfer window. LAFC? San Diego?

Napoli are willing to evaluate incoming offers for Kevin De Bruyne during the winter transfer window.

Thiago Almada not getting minutes at Atletico Madrid and they are willing to let him go. Palmeiras allegedly put in a $20M bid. Player wants playing time. Call me crazy but Atlanta should try to bring him back even though Botafogo hasn't paid yet. Eventually Botafogo will pay sooner or later to get rid of the ban they have. Around $30M is owed to Atlanta. Get him now with Tata Martino as coach and trade Miranchuk in MLS for some GAM and a bag of chips, buy him out or something but make space to bring Almada back.

If Atlanta buys Almada, and also if Botafogo still owns a percentage of the player, couldn’t ATL offer more money while paying the same? Because I presume if Botafogo’s percentage comes to say $5M, they’d just keep the money, whereas any other MLS team would have to pay it.

I so, so want this to be true. For the comedic value.

With Kikkenborg set to join Molde, Anderlecht are stepping up their search for a new GK and have included Jonathan Sirois of CF Montréal on the shortlist. Contacts ongoing with the Canadian international as the Belgian club is assessing all its options on the radar.

It's the only sniff of anything NYC transfer related I've seen, other than Perea signing a contract or two Next Pro players being promoted. As I said, grasping at straws.

And that's the last we'll hear of him from the youth development graveyard that is Liga MX.

Botafogo/Textor hasn't even paid for Almada. They'll need to pay first before they can get any type of money, would be my guess.

Liga MX taking all the Mexican-Americans as they don't take up International spots. If Diego Luna doesn't get offers from Europe soon he'll end up in Liga MX. He'll make more money there than what he can in MLS.

I wouldn't be so sure about this. MLS has been paying players more, and more every season. He'd definitely make more money in LigaMX than he would playing in Europe though.

MLS is payjng players more but non-DP players are capped at $1.7M. Luna is making around 500k in RSL. Max he can be offered without being a DP (I highly doubt he will be offered a DP deal) is around $1.7M. I don't think he will make that in Europe unless he jumps to a top club/league. Liga MX teams like Tigres, America, Chivas etc can definitely top that. It's why Mexican players rarely go to Europe because they don't want to take that pay cut.

I'm wondering how much Brian Gutierrez is making in Chivas compared to Chicago. He just had an assist in his first official game with Chivas. Also Daniel Aguirre how much more is he making in Chivas vs what he was making in LA Galaxy (also just scored). Efrain Alvarez and Ledezma too, wondering how much more they are making compared to when they were in MLS.

Well, RSL will likely have to sell him to get that big payday. We’ll want to cash out, unless he decides that he wants to stay long term, and through this ownership transition.
