    Regarding Grambling:

    upload_2026-6-10_16-37-30.png

    Massey and the Balanced RPI are better measures of team strength than the NCAA RPI. As noted, Grambling recently has done well in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. SWAC, however, is far weaker than any other conference. There are reasons for that, of course, and they are not SWAC's schools' fault, but it nevertheless is the case.

    I agree this does seem a weird fit from a cultural point. It’s odd in my opinion he would go from North Dakota to Louisiana. But what you are saying seems personal so my guess is you have an axe to grind with this coach. I haven’t met Logan so can’t comment, but this close to preseason I cannot imagine Grambling had many options.

    Surely there was one applicant that wasn't this many miles (literally and figuratively) away from the school, its culture, and its relative level of success.

    Since we agree on the bad cultural fit, what about the second point? Are you saying he's moving down there to be a lifer? If so, how much are you willing to wager? If not, then you and I agree on both points. Does that mean it's personal and you have "an axe to grind"? No. That's silly. Nobody needs "an axe to grind" to point out or complain about something so obviously bad.

    Maybe I had a little more fun with my comment than others would have (sorry for not being boring), but the points made were solid, wouldn't you agree?

    While a non-renewal effectively means your employment is ending, it is legally different from being fired. Being fired usually means a contract was terminated for cause mid-term. A non-renewal means your contract expired naturally, and the school simply chose not to offer you a new one

    Yeah, no. It definitely wasn't as simple as that.

    It’s a SWAC job I highly doubt it was a good applicant pool. But I understand your points although you do seem to not be a fan of this guy which isn’t a bad thing I have been vocal over the years about plenty of hires.

    Former University of North Dakota (UND) head women’s soccer coach, Chris Logan, has alleged that he was wrongfully terminated and subjected to retaliation for attempting to address gender equity issues adversely affecting women on his team with UND administrators.

    Hi there! Does anybody have any advice on how a coach can get involved in the college game for an aspiring college coach?

    Internship my friend. I worked as D1 Volunteer assistant in my mid 20s, do good work, be helpful, get promoted to asst. Then head some day. Don't start too low of a level, hard to move up fast. Maybe D2, Naia, or other is my two cents. Very difficult to get your foot in the door. ADs want to hire coaches from successful program, so don't pick one that will be bottom of conference if possible.

    Stay with youth club. Better pay. Probably easier to manage in the now and in the future.

    If you really want to move to college, expect low pay, no raises, crap support from admin, babysitting a lot of players, and be ready to move every 2–5 years.

    Thank you for the info! I am actually joining a staff as an assistant volunteer this fall. Small D3 in a small conference, but decent in their conference so I am excited for the experience. I feel like I need experience and this is a good chance to get my foot in the door.

    I appreciate the honesty. I have been going back and forth between jumping to college or staying at high school. Truth is, I want to try and make coaching a career, but it is hard at either level.

    Rockwood at BYU retiring.

    Who who takes that over? Chris Watkins?

    Didn't the Tarleton coach go from North Dakota to Texas to Carolina now?

    So it's not unheard of then?

    ND --> WY --> TX --> SC
    same as
    ND --> CO --> LA

    BYU replacement, hmmm. Brent Anderson or Chris Watkins. Maybe even Manny Martins in the mix at Utah State. Will be interesting.

    Can't imagine BYU would hire somebody outside of the church.
