    That is wild!

I see that Callie McKinney was promoted to HC in March. Was this a voluntary change on her part?

Have people seen the work done by Chris Henderson on coaching salaries, and team budgets? Are coaches really making that kind of money on bonuses and incentives? Texas A&M over $630,000

You say it like it’s a bad thing… soccer salaries way behind softball and volleyball, and men’s soccer, among others, and if you take out the p4 salaries, the average is probably way below 100k. Most could make way more money selling insurance lol

Did not mean it as a bad thing. What are some of the incentives that raise the salaries up so high? For instance, the Oklahoma head coach base salary and his overall salary. Is the big difference from camps?

Again, just using Oklahoma coach salary as an example. $240,000/Base with overall salary being + $450,000. This can’t be for SEC Championships or NCAA appearances.

@WSOCFan P4 and some other mid majors are there with good pay....laughable at most of the mid-majors and lower D1s (think 45, 55k in base). Just like quality on the field, the comp. packages span the spectrum for D1. I believe there are still 2 P/T coaches in D1 for the women, as well... lol

ID clinics and normal youth camps can be a massive part of end of year earnings for a lot of these coaches. how much they get can range from a commission scale to literally 100%, and some coaches dwarf their base salary with their camp income.

They could also get a slice of fundraising money they bring in, as well....not bad if you have an alums that you help convince to give 5, 6 or 7 figure donations to the school's unrestricted campaign.

Some surprises on that listed. Some schools that do a lot with not much, some schools that don’t much with a good amount to work with.

iowa St was a surprise. 12th highest budget, had no idea their admins supported women’s soccer so well. Yet Fannion has no record of success since he’s been there. I mean how can you not compete in a so so Big 12 with a bigger budget than Florida St, Georgia, and Clemson? If he’s one the host like posters on here say it’s warranted.

It's a little misleading in that the total salary figure includes far more than just the coach's take home pay. It would more accurately be called "Total Compensation" and includes not only things that put more money directly into a coach's pocket (camp income, fundraising splits, etc), but also things as mundane as cost of benefits, contributions to retirement accounts, all the way down to cost of an annual parking pass on campus if that's comped for the coach.

It's not exactly what most people think of when they talk about salary, which is what hits your bank account in your direct deposit. Not a bad gig by any means, but not exactly as lucrative as those total salary figures make it look

I definitely wouldn't want the Iowa State AD to see these figures if that were me

Even if it's not "salary", Texas A&M isn't getting their money's worth outta that deal. 2nd year AD has probably taken notice already. If he hasn't, that's a huge problem.

Seems like both Iowa State and Texas A&M are over paid, have great budgets, and are under performing.

You all don’t realize the amount of work G and his staff have done to build the country’s biggest camp program. This is camp money and those guys WORK for it.

No doubt they need to be better on the field but this is not performance salary.

agreed with this. That’s multi million dollars going back towards the program and into the salary pool as well. 5-8 camps a summer, 700 kids at $800 before you add in the rest of the revenue the little kids generate

I was a HC at the low to mid D1 level for over 20 years. I had numerous players sign professional contracts both domestically and internationally along with 2 players who played in two different WWC - so we had a decent program. In spite of that success, I am now making slightly more as a HC at a lower division (and way happier actually - ha). AD's know coaches (particularly young coaches) want to get in D1 - they want to go to the circus and see the clowns. So the salary often times is reflective of that. D1 programs in need of coaches are in short supply (relatively speaking) - coaches who want to coach at the D1 level are not, so athletic departments can get away with low salaries.......supply & demand.

Oh I realize the amount of work and respect that. I have a daughter that's attended those A&M camps. But Texas A&M doesn't pay a performance salary. They don't pay a goodwill salary. The new AD has made it clear it's a results salary. They just paid the football coach almost $80 million to go away cuz he didn't produce the results. Baseball coach and men's basketball coach followed shortly thereafter.

G is likely only still at A&M BECAUSE they fired the football coach and don't have an extra million lying around to buyout a non-revenue (read as: "Soccer Coach") sport's contract. WBB is closely behind too. But with football and basketball NIL money costing millions while paying coaches to go away, some skate even when the results show they shouldn't.

G will "retire" (not have his contract renewed) at the end of this cycle (2026) and everybody knows it. He fired Phil last year to try and save face but the reality is all the top players have transferred out and they are no longer relevant. More than likely they'll let him save face since he has such a legacy building the program there.

I can imagine there will be plenty of options available. Georgia. FSU asst. Syracuse HC (j/k). Pitt TD recently retired HC. or TCU HC .

I think Georgia coach is back home now and wouldn’t want to move. FSU assistant doesn’t have enough success as a head coach. TCU HC would definitely be in consideration. My top picks would be Arkansas HC and TCU HC.
