I saw the tweet too. But it looks like they have since deleted it. It was on the college recruiting twitter account: ImYouthSoccer
Got told last night by a buddy that USC Upstate head coach has been placed on leave. Double checked and he wasn’t on the sideline for the game vs Wake.
Texas now at 2-6-1. Ange Kelly contract at $227K plus a car allowance and camps. Woefully underachieving. RPI at 93, which is not great but could come up with a couple good SEC results. But big challenge is if they will be .500 by end of the season. So much in state talent, nice budget, great facilities - and can’t beat Northwestern St or Mizzou. Would be a travesty if a program like that can’t even make the NCAAs. Saving grace is she still has a couple years left on her contract. I know at least a couple coaches that would fare far better there than where Texas is currently at.
Yeah, what is going on there? There is a lot of talent on the roster. Not sure about their 2026 class (maybe saving space for transfer portal?).
You mean the way he did for the Houston Dash? Are you sure he is even coaching at Pitt, or still wants to coach? Lots of good experienced coaches out there are not as interested in the rat-race that is P4 D1 soccer now as you think they are...
if it’s one of the assistants it’s because they normally have someone sit up in the stands who’s mic’d up to the bench.
Not a defense, but she did lose a ton of players over the last couple of years. Alot signing pro contracts too. G at A&M has less of a defense, considering very few of the players he's lost have signed pro contracts and the transfers have mostly gone on to better programs and contributed significantly to them.
Programs that should also be considered hot: Utah UNLV Oregon State Texas Arizona Michigan Boise State Cincinnati St. John’ Air Force
Oregon State coach got the job permanently less than a year ago. Seems a little quick to get put on the hot seat already, no?
Yeah, seems really quick to put Caroline Kelly on the hot seat. Caroline Kelly was elevated to Interim Head Coach in July of 2024 before having the interim tag removed on Nov. 13 after a successful first season leading the Beaver soccer program. The team is 1-3-4, with their only loss by multiple goals being to an undefeated Nebraska and that game was on the road.
Whoever said Boise State earlier that seems harsh. They won 16 games last year and lost to Utah State in tournament title match
I don't disagree on this hotseat call but very very few ADs do not think a loss is a loss. Many don't understand, or acknowledge, a good draw from a bad one. So, 'being competitive' and keeping opposing score lines down is not much of a positive in coaching evaluations. Improving your placement in the conference standings, improving win%, making conference tournaments, high enough seeding to host post-season games. And a quiet or even supportive AD inbox - all more important than how many goals scored in Nebraska....
Something I've noticed is that the D1 men's competition really is different than the women's. For the D1 men, it is not unusual for top teams to come from mid-majors. For the D1 women, it is unusual. That being the case, it would be crazy for an Athletic Director to use a comparison to how the men's team is doing as the basis for evaluating how the women's team is doing. It's an apples to oranges comparison.
Agree with that take but happens all the time. I'm sure it does for basketball, and lacrosse, and softball/baseball. I think we know in soccer the "x factor" for the men is usually international players. Look at Vermont's roster. I'd also say coaches smart and active in the transfer portal can really do well for both genders but you seem to see it more on the men's side. That is, P4 players coming down to play mid-major. Remember it's only a P2 for the men as well so not as many spots at those top funded D1s. For High Point - it's a mystery and maybe someone with some insight can share. They became one of those "resort" schools that just spends like crazy on campus amenities. Yes, its expensive and I understand they don't "stack" or combine athletic and academic scholarships but still very attractive to kids in the US pay to play club model...
That phrase don’t make no sense why can’t fruit be compared… there’s just all of these conflicting principles
