lol I want to say it was Scott Goodyear that jumped the gun... Jacque actually came back from 2 laps down to win ... And I do believe he won the Indy DC in '95 before jumping to F1
Yeah, Goodyear. I knew Tracy didnt sound right. Tracy doesnt even look right. Should it have an 'E' in it? Tracey? That doesnt look right, either. Tracy will have to do. I could google it. But it doesnt matter and I've got things to do. If it was Villeneuve I'd google it. That matters. But of course, I dont have to. Even small children know how to spell Villeneuve.
really good news about not starting next year at -15. i mean, what's the point in buying the club at that point? yesterday was the first actual, all-around, good day for wednesdayites in what... 2 years? time to start the rebuild.
There was rather a lot of celebrating when Chansiri put the club into administration, as that meant he was out. It was also the result of a huge boycott that was designed for just that purpose, so loads were pleased. But the downside of going into administration is obvious, so I wouldn't call it an all-around good day. And last season wasn't really awful until toward the end, when it became clear that Chansiri no longer had the funds to run the club. The season actually started off pretty well, as Danny Rohl had, after keeping them up the preceding year, got them going pretty well and was earning a name for himself. Wednesday actually finished in the top half last year (barely, 12th). So it probably hasn't been quite that long. But yeah, everything since last season's end has been truly awful. Huge, massive celebrations yesterday. Deserved.
Joanne Youngson MSc As David Bruce moves on from Sunderland to take up his new role as CEO at Sheffield Wednesday it feels important to reflect on the impact he’s had. He should be immensely proud of what he achieved during his time at the club. He played a key role in reconnecting Sunderland AFC with its supporters, helping to restore many of the traditions and matchday elements that truly matter—things that give the club its identity and meaning. Not many people get the chance to make such a meaningful difference at their boyhood club, and even fewer leave behind a legacy that will be remembered for years to come. Wishing David every success in his new role.
it's funny...when I asked Don Garber about Welcome to Wrexham he had nothing but nasty things to say about it and also NetFlix...then I realized that MLS had their TV contract with AppleTV...only then did it all make sense.
Have you guys been following Spygate? Some intern who up until recently worked for the Southampton coaching team was caught filming Middlesbrough's training session. Middlesbrough want Southampton disqualified but I don't think the EFL will have the bottle. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cwy2dg2w168o
Season tickets went on sale at Wednesday today, and apparently they've sold 12k of them. In one day! For the third tier! Folks are a bit excited for the post-Chansiri era to get underway, it seems.
Southampton have been kicked out of the play-off final and Middlesbrough have been reinstated. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cwy2pnpqjl7o
They were probably trying to get the scoop on formation, starting line-up, set pieces etc. They admitted to 2-3 cases where they conveniently lost the games but I imagine they've been at it all season. Middlesbrough apparently got hold of a doctored picture that was being emailed by Southampton staff internally of the guy dressed in camoflauge gear. If Hull lose the final expect more drama. lol
Yeah, of course, I've oversimplified the game of footy. It would be advantageous to know all of that in advance. I get. In other MASSIVE news I've read that we have canceled our Macron kit deal and are going to go with UMBRO. Neat.
I bet the EFL are glad that Hull won the final. Hull were planning to take legal action if they lost. lol
Cremonese have been relegated, and therefore lifelong Owl fan Jamie Vardy has been released. ... could he?
Kris Wigfield, the beloved administrator who oversaw the ownership transition, has posted on X about the new owners going with Henrik Pedersen to manage the first team again next year. I've looked around - including the club's official site - and see nothing confirming this. His post just offers a perspective on the decision, rather than presenting it as news or a revelation; but it does make it sound like a done deal. Kris Wigfield on X: "I've noticed there is still a lot of online questioning of Henrik Pedersen. Everyone is entitled to their opinion - and friendly debate is one of the reasons we all love football - but I want to give an alternative view. Firstly, the new owners have made their decision. They" / X If true, it's a decision I don't dislike. Critics who watched last year's shite show don't seem to feel that he did well enough tactically; but I'm not sure I see it that way. Wigfield's rationale is pretty much how I do. Anyway, I don't know if it's official, or even if it's 100% on ... but it's out there.
