A team still in turmoil... @ August 10th https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foo...ield-wednesday-preseason-barry-bannan-5195561
The new thread! Forward-looking at a time when no one dares look forward! I like it. Bannan reporting for duty without a contract (in a few days, anyway). How can one not appreciate that? I get that its chaos - or at least that if there is a degree of order, no one knows what it is. But get your head down and carry on, eh? As stated, Leicester City in six or so weeks. Come on Wednesday! UTO!
While i heartily endorse placing an Indiana state flag in any breaded tenderloin sandwich, I am less pleased with the way New Era ads for ridiculously conceived and executed baseball caps are popping up all over my phone.
And now ... numerous sources are saying that Rohl is about to return to Wednesday. The responses just reflect more of the rollercoaster that Wednesday fans are on. First off, folks suggest it to be evidence that a takeover is coming, so that seems good. But loads of fans are peeved with his behavior, having offered himself all over Europe (and gotten nothing). The feeling is that he's crawling back with his tail between his legs, 'doesn't really want to be here', etc. Rather bad, that. Also suggestions that (at least some of) the players don't want him back. He's hardly shown himself as committed, to be sure, so if that's the case, you certainly can understand it. Particularly if there's any truth to the claim that he'd told them he wasn't coming back. So that's very bad, if true. Who knows? Just another day in Dejphon Chansiri's Sheffield Wednesday.

Played York City (and won 3-0) yesterday, according to Rob Staton. Basically, everything's been behind closed doors thus far. Dunno why. Cheaper than opening gates? Keep fans from stirring shit up? Still, it's not unusual, though you don't expect it for every preseason game. Are tickets being sold for Mansfield Town? A step toward normalcy, perhaps? Hardly a shock that a club that can't sort out its manager, let alone who gets paid and when, isn't running a silky-smooth pre-season. All you can do is wake up every morning and look for breaking news. 'Til then, this is how ol' Dej is running the show.

Barry Bannan has penned a new deal with the club. No details, but its being said that he'll be on greatly reduced wages. Not hard to believe, that last bit. Anyway, what an absolute legend. So many players - entirely within their rights - have sought a way out on the late payment of wages issue. I wont call them rats, but the 'leaving a sinking ship' part of the analogy still works. But Bannan stays. I'd say commission a statue, but given the finacials, it'd probably be made of Lego, or ramen noodles, or some such.
Reporting for this year's flogging. I want to commend you guys because if not for you as a group, I would not care about Wednesday or the Championship.
And a flogging it appears it will be. The Championship is brilliant, though. It deserves your attention as much as any division anywhere. Wednesday, unfortunately, are anything but brilliant at the moment. I can't imagine what the side will look like that turns out v Leicester next weekend. It could get very ugly this year. I'm thinking im gonna go in a couple months anyway. QPR at Hillsborough on a saturday, and away at Brum the following tuesday, im thinking. If I can get an away ticket, which im thinking wont be too problematic as things stand. Spurs host Wolves on the Sunday, and have a 50/50 chance of being home in the CL midweek. Maybe even the new Everton ground on Monday (very West Ham), if i can get a ticket. QPR/Oxford at Loftus Road's Wednesday night, maybe? ... hope there's still a Sheffield Wednesday FC by then.
Wednesday have this incredible knock to find an ambitious assistant culture William coach please able to pull off miracle. They're paying next to nothing cuz this is one of the few big gigs if not the only big gigs they could get. But then when they succeed and it's time to Pony up, they mess it up. Watch them do it again!!
so is chansiri actually broke, or is he just being a gaping asshole to spite the fans that have spoken out against him? are we even going to be able to fill out the bench next weekend?
