JV Last of the Bulwark just posted this.... 100% Lots of time for recriminations, but one explanation I have trouble believing is that this result has anything to do with policy positions. As if positions Harris took during the 5 minutes she ran for president in 2019 mattered--at all--to voters. We got this result because America wanted Trump. That's it. People reaching to construct alibis for the public because they don't want to grapple with this are whistling past the graveyard.
North Carolina has voted for: - A Democratic Governor by 15 points - A Democratic Lt. Governor (presumably) by 1-2 points - A Democratic Attorney General by 4 points - Trump by 3 Those 3 Democrats have almost the exact same actual policy views as Harris. (At least) 7% of voters looked at Trump and Jeff Jackson and thought "those two are my guys." Very, very few people are voting on the details of policy, especially from 5 years ago. They're mostly going on vibes and party affiliation.
PA is looking bad WI is looking ok MI is looking very close, just like Nevada. 54 or 55 is looking like a very real possibility for the GOP (currently at 52) https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-elections/senate-results
Republicans need only 13 more house seats to regain control of the House of reps. They are leading in 12 of the most contested ones, not sure how many other safe seats they have out there.
I don't blame him any more than I blame Kamala, which is to say, "Not at all." Democratic voters are just punk ass bitches.
Republicans retain control of the house of representatives. Trifecta. https://bsky.app/profile/cnn.com/post/3lau4ypiq2s2b
Democrats’ flip in California concludes final unresolved US House race https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/04/politics/democrats-flip-california-house-race/index.html Looks like it's going to be very tight. A handfull of House members will be able to wield quite a bit of power. We'll see how it plays out.
So Democrat net gain of 1. Some flips for Dems in NY and CA. Where did Republicans flip in their favor? Florida?
How long has all of New England's House members have been all Democratic? The only other states with all Democratic representatives are New Mexico and Hawaii.
