I am confused…. Who are not going to vote for Alsobrooks? Let’s assume 10% of the GOP base will not for for Hogan, so 25% of dems will have to vote for him in a presidential election year. Good luck to Hogan with that.
Yet he's still involved with the campaign. Changed his mind after he couldn't be elected again by the guy who ran after him. The Supreme Court doesn't make law so that irrelevant.
But when you look at those who do make laws, we find Republicans putting forth 515 anti-LGBT+ bills so far this year. You mentioned not all of them become law, which is correct, but the reason they don't become law is largely because Democrats oppose them. The Republican Speaker of the House has a long anti-LGBT+ history and is on record opposing LGBT+ rights. Here's what Meghan McCain said about him on Twitter: “So we just elected a raging homophobe to speaker…..? Way to break stereotypes and win over hearts and minds!” Johnson, as part of ADF, even sued New Orleans because the city gave health care benefits to partners of city employees! He also wrote an amicus in a Supreme Court case arguing that states should be allowed to criminalize gay sex. This is not Democrats arguing gays should be thrown in jail for having sex, it's the Republican Speaker of the House. Your argument has been completely nonsensical so far - you have been arguing that those people who are putting forth anti-LGBT+ laws and believe we should be thrown in jail for having sex are better for LGBT+ people than those who oppose such laws and work for LGBT+ equality. Day is not night, the sun is not the moon, and up is not down. You might live in opposite-world, but I do not.
For context, it was in a Stephen Colbert interview, starts about 6'30" in. You can decide for yourself what the intent of the comment was - but it's pretty obvious it wasn't "nefarious".
Repulicans can’t be held responsible for their votes because they don’t have agency. For you to respond in this way is simply trolling.
I already said that. But looking at Biden... The face of a man who knows what he did…and is thrilled with the outcome.Sickening. pic.twitter.com/cw8smgha6n— Daniel Baldwin (@baldwin_daniel_) May 31, 2024
Well it's hard to tell exactly what Sounders78 is implying since he hasn't actually been specific. I'm not a Republican anyway so there are plenty of things I support from both sides. My point is actions over words. Lock her up were words now we have actual actions and this will go just like the Supreme Court and Federal judges did. You can stop quoting my post, I'm off to work and said enough. Enjoy today's victory hopefully this is the worst of the situation.
I've provided plenty of specifics, including 515 anti-LGBT+ bills put forth in states across the country by Republicans, the Speaker of the House previously having argued in an amicus to the Supreme Court that states should be able to criminalize me for having sex, suing New Orleans to take away benefits from gay partners, etc. That is very much my focusing on actions over words. Regardless, the discussion started when you posted this (and I quote it in its entirety):
Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) “will enter the race for the United States Senate today, filing nominating petitions with over 2,000 signatures in Trenton to seek re-election to a fourth term as an independent,” the New Jersey Globe reports. From my understanding that will allow him to use his campaign money to pay some of his large legal bills.
That’s pretty Trumpy of him. Unfortunately for him, Democrats across the country aren’t going to whine “PERSECUTION!!!!!” and fill his coffers over and over.
I would assume he had a decent campaign chest before his "troubles". He definitely will not get much money from the dems, he is such a sleaze ball.
Are trying to tell me if he showed up at his lawyers office with a wheelbarrow filled with gold bars that the lawyer would turn him down?
Not sure how easy it is to run to the bank and deposit those gold bars. The teller might ask a few unanswerable questions.
A GOP primary add This is the most racist advertisement I have seen in years. https://t.co/AsbZqBjZ6M— Lakshya Jain (@lxeagle17) June 4, 2024
This is great. It's very much a "let them fight" or "root for the meteor" situation. Some background for everyone: AZ-8 is a safe Republican seat. The current rep, Debbie Lesko, is retiring. The primary is on July 30. There are a number of announced Republicans, but the main ones are this guy Abraham Hamadeh, whom the ad is targeting, and Blake Masters. Hamadeh was the candidate for state Attorney General in 2002 and lost to Democrat Kris Mayes in a very close race - something like 300 votes - it's believed that this is the only election decided by anti-vaccine morons dying of COVID, since more than 300 anti-vaccine morons in Arizona died of COVID. Masters is a Peter Thiel creation, and ran for Senate in 2002 where he lost to Mark Kelly. Hamadeh has been endorsed by Trump and several Trump-adjacent people, but Masters has been endorsed by JD Vance and Paul Gosar - i.e. the worst of the worst in Congress. More importantly, Masters has that Peter Thiel money, which is how he's funding ads like the one ceez posted. Masters is leading in the polls. It's a race where you hope everyone loses, or that the Republicans spend all their money and effort fighting each other and leave an opening for the Democrat to sneak through, but probably it will go to an awful Republican.
God must be dead else she would have dropped meteors on this lot. You know the old fire and brimstone from that real old-time religion.
