I agree with the call. It's not the first contact, it's the second contact. He's got his right arm tucked in, but he's in the process of trying to tuck in the left, and it's still out when the ball hits him.
If Roldan was squared uo to the ball with his arm tucked I'd say no PK,, but because he's turned 90 degrees, his hand is making him bigger? I'd also see the argument if it actually deflected off de la Vega first but didn't see an angle that showed that?
It did seem to change direction a bit as it went past de la Vega. I'm pretty sure it hit his hand before hitting Roldan's hand. But de la Vega's was certainly tucked in, Roldan's not as much.
I think that's the right call, but I'm a little surprised they didn't take a few more seconds to stare at it before moving on.
We didn't get a good view on replay but it's possible... ref was in ideal position to see it. And Roldan's hand was in a risky position and hit the ball. Idk tough one.
League (and presumably USOC) regulations. Every field gets watered pregame and at half. I assume its so every game is standardized and teams know what conditions to expect. Yes, its stupid.
