Brazilian goalkeeper said something to someone from the referee team and also applauded her who then informed the referee which ran after the goalkeeper and showed her the second yellow card.
After the final whistle, the Brazilian coach was still in a discussion with the 4th referee pointing at her watch and, I believe, demanding more added time for the time lost watching the VS system replay in one of the last actions of the match. (The referee initially added 6 minutes to the match, the action with the replay was in the added time of the extra time and the check itself took 2 minutes - which the referee took into account by adding 2 more minutes making a total of 11 mins and 20 secs of extra time). The camera mainly showed the celebrating players, so it only captured the final moment of the situation, in which the Brazilian goalkeeper was still fumming about something and speaking to the 4th referee back when she was decisively walking to the main referee explaining to her that she was demanding a card for the Brazilian goalkeeper. The main referee listened to her colleague, went to the line where the goalkeeper had quickly ‘escaped’ and showed her first a yellow and then a red card. I assume that just after the final whistle the Brazilian goalkeeper ‘joined’ the coach's conversation with the 4th referee and insulted the referee in some way - for which she later received a card for unsportsmanlike conduct and then right after another one for dissent or talkin back.
The USA was beaten and out coached. They never looked like they were going to score and it was clearly, an improperly prepared team that the USA fielded today. We will play probably England in the third place match as I do not think England has the chops to beat Spain. But these are two Euro teams and that means there is uncertainty. But with Spain the uncertainty is minimal.
I am sure the coaching staff are preparing their players very well. They have 11 people on the sporting side and 11 on the not sporting side according to the press document they gave us. But it does not mean the players have the skills to beat North Korea. You can only prepare to the best of your ability.
Also available live on Fox Sports 2 in the USA (Probably also some other areas that carry the FOX sports channels. This may end up 0-0 but both teams have made mistakes that "nearly" allowed the other to score.
Spain scores late in the 1st half. England had a number of chances but failed to convert as did Spain. In fact for the majority of the first half England looked the most likely to score but they just could not finish anything. I am quite impressed by England's ability to limit Spain's chances and not be dominated in the midfield. While the play is not the same this does remind me of USA vs N. Korea in that there is one clearly better possession team but the other provided moments that looked like they were the dominate team. I'm quite sure that England will apply pressure in the second period and the know that as long as the lead is not too bad they have a chance as they have proved in some of the earlier matches. The 2nd will be a fun watch.
Well, so far, this is proving true IF you are a Spain supporter. England has kind of gone into a shell and ae a LOT less dynamic and Spain has opened up. That may be an effect of the rain nearly going away, England may be better "mudders" than Spain, but I suspect Spain got chewed out in the locker room over the half and came out mad at themselves and scored fairly easily to make it 2-0. Of course England can still make this very interesting but i do not really see signs that England is going to make a comeback. In fact I think it is more likely that Spain will score one or two more before the end.
Well England showed that depending on comebacks is just a way to invite disaster. Spain wins 3-0 and except for a few flashes England just could not create real danger and the danger they fell into they did not even look very dangerous. And with a final bad defensive play by England and a sloppy own goal the match ends with a whimper rather than a roar.
