They're going to freeze him out if he doesn't agree to a new deal? That seems like the dumbest approach of all given we are absolute shit in attack. I get that they want him to re-sign, but at some point you have to do what is in the best interest of the team. Where's the logic of playing Rabiot for a whole year where he hadn't agreed on a new deal and sitting Chiesa? I'm sorry, but this management team has not shown anything.
Yeah outside of emergency situation. he has to renew for at least another year. Otherwise we lose him for free and he can start formal negations in January. That is not a tenable strategy.
The difference is, Rabiot was working to make the French team for the Euros so agreed to stay another year. Both the club nd Rabiot were under no illusions about what would happen at the endow the year. We made him an offer and he didn't want it. Didn't we sign him on a free also? Chiesa we have invested $$$$ in him and can't let him just walk. He has to renew for at least another year or we will lost him and the money we invested in him also.
Their plan is to wait until January and sign him for free next summer. Another reason he has to reup or go.
At least Koop seems to really want to come here, unlike the 2 CBs we were after: https://football-italia.net/precious-koopmeiners-duality-quality-juventus/
I get all that, but is it better to have a player that can help you languish on the bench or the stands? You're going to lose him as is at the end of the season.
Also, with respect to Rabiot, there was some negotiation between he and the club before he left. It wasn't a foregone conclusion.
True, but no one at the club expected to get anything for him. They essentially rented him for another year and hoped to continue the rental. He decided to go....and still doesn't have a club.
As I wrote on the NT board recently, 2 seasons ago it was known that Milan Skriniar was going to leave Inter for PSG. Yet Inter didn't freeze him out, they played him and they won the league double and went to the UCL Final. Why is it different between Chiesa and Juve?

Juve management needs to put their stupid pride & ego aside and sit with Chiesa to find a deal. Things have changed and they can offer him lower since he didnt find a team. Closing the door on negotiations is childish and pedantic. A player could have emotions but a BUSINESS needs to act like one and not have emotions involved. Reality is season is about to start and they failed to sell and buy his replacement. So swallow your pride, get a deal done and then get rid of him in winter. We act like Man City or PSG with big wallets. Cant afford to waste a year salary AND not play him. also his contract value is what it is,…the club gave him that contract and they should expect to pay it til the end. You dont get to adjust salaries every year based on performance. Also market rates are what they are…ex; if min wage is $15/hr then it doesnt matter whether you believe its deserved or not. Im sure all our house prices are insane too, thats just the market. Its not a decision based on our feelings. Lastly, the club needs to have their priorities straight, they dont understand posture and optics and timing when it comes to negotiations. Their approach this summer was like a video game, they were never gonna be able to make 20 transactions to happen in a busy summer with Euros & Copa.
I blame both. Chiesa needs to realize, he's the stud some people think he is since his injury. He's had below average seasons at Juve, he's not worth what his agent is asking for. As you say, Juve is a business, so why overpay for something you feel doesn't bring value to your brand? Where's Rabiot? He sign for anyone yet? His ridiculous salary demand has severely narrowed the pool of interested teams. Dybala ring any bells? Reality is that Gonzalez is Chiesa's replacement and there's a very good chance he will join the team sooner rather than later.
What's funny is that Juve took a chance on this guy, who was coming off an injury. Does he just expect to take over a starting role after getting barely any minutes?
