Chelsea humbled Club America who are practicing not trying for Leagues Cup matches.
3-0 Chelsea in Atlanta. Chelsea have looked simply awful thus far in their preseason. According to this ~38k tickets were sold, which is very low. https://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-united/chelsea-defeats-club-america-in-possible-glimpse-of-club-world-cup-in-atlanta/XVJNIWQ6U5EWNDUY5A3QMBFQM4/#:~:text=More than 38,000 tickets were, drums sat in one end.
Looking at Chelsea's and Man City's attendances so far this year, I don't think they will reach 100k at Ohio Stadium.

I mean I know you're not wrong, but completely inglorious matchups on the NBC networks get 300k+ sometimes in crappy time slots. Doesn't make sense to me. IMO its not that interesting of a league.

Presentation helps I think. Commentary, the way crowd atmosphere is captured, studio segments all do a great job promoting the actual game on the field. It’s always jarring to me going from that to CBS and the Serie A, which seems stuck in 2007 at best.

AC Milan 1 - Real Madrid 0 at Soldier Field. Madrid played without 10 likely starters. Musah played 30 and got praise. Pulisic got a lot of minutes at a false 9 position and had chances. According to this tweet attendance is 61,568 which would be one of the highest soccer attendances at the stadium ever.

Manchester United 3 - Real Betis 2 in San Diego. 26,248 in attendance.

Some years back 81k showed up at the Rose Bowl to see United crush the Galaxy. These tours might just be losing some luster.

Manchester City 4 - Chelsea 2 at Ohio Stadium. Haaland with a hat trick. No official attendance but multiple sources said "over 70,000".

77,559 for Liverpool beating Manchester United 3 - 0 in South Carolina
The Gamecocks put on the kind of show that seems to really trip out EPL teams and fans with fireworks during the walkout, fireworks show at halftime, and fireworks after every goal.

Oh I seem to have skipped a match.
RB Leipzig beat Aston Villa at New Jersey's version of Red Bull Arena 2-0.

Daily Mail with a dig at the Red Bulls and even the market:

Crystal Palace 3 - West Ham United 1 in Tampa
Wolves 3 - RB Leipzig 0 in Fort Lauderdale

The big one - el classico - Real Madrid 1 Barcelona 2 from Metlife Stadium. Seems like a good thing that this game wasn't on TV as it was delayed by an hour for lightning. 82,154 is the attendance. They'll have to play at a college football stadium to beat this number.

Club America 1 - Aston Villa 0 in a Leagues Cup warmup. Played in Chicago. 22,225 in attendance at Solider Field. Kind of low for a Club America match.

Now let the venue host Salzburg at next year’s CWC for the Red Bull trifecta.

Even the biggest of rubes are slowly but surely figuring out the sporting value of a match and/or competition. If I’m a Liga MX fan based in the US I would wait for actual league matches as already announced/fantasised about by the Mexican ownership.

When they say "European Clubs" what they really mean are Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Not mentioned: 6k at Annapolis for wolves vs Palace. I guess those aren't European enough.

Snapdragon only holds 35K, and they were playing Reral Betis. While Betis is a fairly large club on Spain....... I'd imagine that their following outside of Spain isn't sizeable.

WST is some kind of parody. They can't be serious about some of the shit they write.

I guess supporting the "local" team is out of the question then?
