Yeah I missed it too. That's been happening to me lately. I assume it's my fault, including that we got back from a mini-vaca yesterday so I wasn't focused on it. Coulda easily watched it last night, even if I started a few hours later that KO. Would've been a nice one to watch, even if a bit of a nail-biter in 2H. So I only just watched the 7-min highlights package. Doesn't give me a sense of the whole game. Maybe Crew deserved a goal, but then again we looked like were surely competing, and Carlos made at least one game-saving save. As for Sunday, I should probably try to go, but...
You can say the Crew deserved a goal but we also deserved more than one. So to me, that evens out. We really could’ve been or should’ve put 3 on them. As for the run of play…..Columbus had most of possession and we really pressed them like I haven’t seen in a long time. Sandro changed the formation and we played excellent defensively waiting for a counter. The one commentator for the game said it best. The Redbulls played better without the ball than Columbus played with possession. One note Rossi for Columbus didn’t play due to injury. He could really make Columbus more dangerous. Expect him to play game 2. Let’s all come out Sunday. Regardless of the result, it’s most likely the last home game in 2024
I am a Manchester United fan also so I had to deal with watching that Manchester United Miss on Sunday and then watching the highlights and scenes Morgan beat everybody and dribble too wide of the goalie and I just can't take professionals not being able to finish scaring opportunities that glaring.
Good point about "last home game". Only way we could have another is if we faced ATL in the conf.final... chances of that are basically zilch. I really don't like MLS playoff format... it's strangely unbalanced to make the first round (and only that round) multi-game ties Anyway, because of some family stuff, I'm gonna have to play it by ear and make an extremely last-minute decision. Yeah that wasn't good by Lewis but at least it didn't end up costing us anything in the end.
Got my ticket! S202 R2 S9 I saw that Atlanta beat Miami at the Merc today, so maybe there is hope for us? it would be damn near amazing if we could close out the series tomorrow at home
That was ********ing amazing! I’ll try to send some photos later. Special mention to Dylan Nealis, who I thought was the outstanding player of the first half by far and I’ve never seen him play as well. Plus, I believe he had the assist on Forsberg goal if I’m not mistaken
You got to see us do the impossible in person. I will say I like 3 at the back. Let Tolkin get forward. I can't believe Vanzier of all people scored. Insane, just insane.
I was row 1 in 205. Honestly thought we were going to get stomped after the first goal since we'd shown very little up until then, but what a turnaround (and again in penalties).
Yeah, I'm glad I decided to go. If we hadn't won game 1, I mighta been more on the fence. This was the most exciting NYRB match I can remember attending, though I'll admit that my memory is not able to recall all the many that have happened over the decades. I was with you. I attended the last time we hosted Crew in October and they just sliced through us that night almost at will. So I was braced for the worst, after their first goal. And TBH, even after we went ahead 2-1 and they then equalized, I thought that with +12 mins they would pretty likely break our hearts again.
I was row 2 sec 206. The corner. Amazing win. Literally, the best moment since 2018. Thought this standing there during the celebration: the first bright spot since 2018. Begins hopefully, a turn in a better direction not only for the team on the field but for the long suffering fanbase. Maybe the dark cloud that has covered the team and fanbase is starting to break.
Here are some pics I took last night. Apologies for the poor quality (old phone, low light, poor auto-focus...)
I'm just watching it on ATV for the first time. And one moment that the TV didn't capture (which I tried to take a photo of and failed) is when the PK was called and there was a lot of delay. Morgan made it look like he'd be the PK taker, with his teammates surrounding him to "protect" him from trash-talk or whatever. All the while Forsberg was nowhere near the spot. At one point while all the hullabaloo was going on he was walking around balancing the ball on his nose like a seal. It was a riot. And it showed how the guy has ice cool blood in his veins. And on the flip side, one thing that was hard to see in person, the TV caught very clearly: Harper's injury was quite clearly a hammie. In person all I could tell was that it was serious enough that his season might be done, unless we go all the way to the cup final. p.s. I do not honestly think we can make a deep run. I think we'll get found out... especially defensively. We were quite fortunate that Crew didn't take advantage of some of our lapses.
A little weird that they haven’t published a date for the next round matches. Surely they know the possible days, no? Or at least the week?! I don’t recall this from past years, but is this obfuscation SOP? Edit: they published the schedule within a few hours: we’re playing at Citi Field 5:30pm on Nov 23rd.
Ready folks?! We seem to have a fully fit squad, minus Duncan (who I honestly never miss) I toyed with goin out to Flushing but I’m gonna watch at home instead. My wife doesn’t know this yet. @Night shift you goin to Queens?
I’ll be watching at home. This is it boys!!! The most important derby in our history. All good luck charms coming out tonight while I watch
Apple's pregame coverage has been rehashing a painful reminder of our last meeting with NYC, one of the few matches I attended this year. It was a brutal 5-1 defeat at home. And until tonight I'd kind of blocked it from my memory. So... WE NEED REVENGE! COME ON BOYS! And some overdue love from MLS Cup.
HT NYC 0-2 RBNY Vanzeir added the 2nd. Good take. Has he finally turned a corner of late? Great effort by our boys. They're showing some balls. And we'll take the small amount of luck too, e.g. the NYC sitter missed at 48'

NYRB Goal 24th - Carballo (A) Vanzier NYRB Goal 28th - Vanzier It's the 61st minute and S Nealis had a bad Collison with NYC Haak. S Nealis clearly knocked out before he goes to ground. Noah Elie comes on for him.
