    Yes, my typo! (now fixed)

ps. I meant to give special mention to Meara, who had a really solid game, did everything asked of him, even pulled off a really good save to keep them from scoring earlier. And he wasn’t really at fault on the goal. I can’t remember the last time he started a league match, so his ability to come in cold is really impressive.

He is gonna move from backup to youth coach to head coach in 10 years, mark my words. He is a true professional. Also like a good backup, he is always ready, trains like a starter and all that good stuff.

Was god awful busy at work Saturday night and couldn’t watch the game or even highlights. With the amount of starters missing, it isn’t really that bad of a result to be honest. Would’ve preferred a tie. We’ve had much better lineups over the years that didn’t win up there. Only question I have is, was the effort respectable or is New England really that bad?

Harper was great on the wing. Vanzeir was quite good as well. Got into great positions, created dangerous chances, BUT this man cannot stick the ball in the net to save his life.

    NYRB 0-0 NSC

But… shoulda coulda won by 3 goals

I think the handball that denied us was nonsense. You could barely see.

Yeah but in the age of VAR, any fractional handball in the box is going to called as a handball.

Sure but the angle of the video for that claim was ridiculous. Football needs to take a note from soccer.

Wecame back from a two goal deficit. Lots of heart and desire. Never gave up. Dominated the ball for much of the game. Owned the stats. And yet…

The one word I would use to describe our performance was “frustrating“.

Harper had a good match and exemplified all of what I wrote above. But our forwards? What’s that expression about a broad side of a barn? Vanzeir is our poster boy for that, but Manuel & Burke are not far behind.

Cool that 16YO Hall got a debut goal and secured the result for us.

Vanzier is doing all the other functions of being a striker right, except score.

Very happy for Hall. I will say we are treading water which is very good.

Everything but score lol. In a position that demands scoring.

Yes, I know we have gone through this with Galvin Ray to Klimala. I don't know how to break him out of it especially as we are thin right now due to international commitments.

70’ in at RBA against TFC and we are such the better team. And can I say that I like our latest back 4 of: Tolkin, Eile, Nealis, Nealis. Eile seems solid and made a killer thruball for Manoel. And Dylan Nealis seems a definitive upgrade on Duncan, who I'm happy to see, ride the bench indefinitely.

Edit: FT 3-0. And 3 super sweet goals. Really would’ve liked to have been at tonight’s match in person. Except for the nearly 2 hour weather delay in the first half. They lost about 50% of the crowd it looked like, because of that.

Well, at least I got to watch some of the game at work due to the weather delay. You know it’s a good performance when it’s not even necessary to finish watching the game because it’s in the bag. ⚫️

Nealis the younger reminds me of Connor Lade. Able deputy and spot starter. He doesn't scream everyday starter but is more consistent than Duncan.

Both Duncan and Reyes can be playing lights out and then a brain fart of a play and now you are trailing. You can't have that kind of inconsistency at the back.

So true. And the "lights out" periods are few and far between. Certainly in Duncan's case. I rate Reyes slightly higher in defensive quality, but you're absolutely right, that he's too gaffe-prone.

I found tonight‘s draw vs DCU to be highly frustrating, especially given our man advantage for much of the match, and a lot of lucky breaks from the ref’s calls or non-calls

I still have a bit of a soft spot for Jesse Marsch. So kudos to him for getting Canada to the Copa semis against Argentina. Meanwhile, Gregg Berhalter fails to get us out of the group…as the host… and may lose his job next week. Is there any chance that Jesse could take over USMNT before WC’26???

Berhalter didn't deserve a second cycle and it serves US soccer right.

    Philly 0-0 NYRB.

We’ve really settled into a sputtering midseason. Due largely to our inability to finish the very decent amount of good chances we create.

Vanzeir, Manoel at the top of that list, with several misses each tonight. But Morgan also missed one. Harper too but he looked the most accurate/lethal I thought.

Oh and Forsberg is now ruled out fir at least another 4 weeks. Plus Carmona is just bad lately. But the new guy Donkor has impressed me.

We’re not going to challenge for the shield, but hopefully we can make the playoffs comfortably and get a little bit of home-field advantage???

Have run into some bad luck missing games due to work and illness. Even if we had average strikers we would be so much better off. I don’t know what’s worse? The US sticking with Berhalter and absolutely wasting the last two years with him or RB not getting a legit striker the last few years.

You could make an argument that we should’ve won that, but then again a draw is probably a fair result.

Their only goal is scored by us (Sean Neilis). But also we could’ve easily conceded a second near the end, if not for a great save by Carlos.

Also if Vanzeir actually knew how to take a scoring chance, we could’ve put the game to bed. For quite a while now I’ve been thinking he should not play CF. He seems actually better as a provider, e.g., his excellent cutback to Morgan who actually knows how to bury a goal… and did!

Donkor continues to impress me. Reyes continues to make me nervous… every time he has a defensive play to make.

Forsberg is out for a month or so, and Tolkin is away with the Olympic squad. Can we raise our level without them?

Also, Harper went down with some sort of injury tonight. Hopefully not too serious because he’s been one of our bright spots offensively lately.

Messi’s ankle damage seems pretty bad. Could be a little lucky break for us?

    FT NYRB 2-2 Montreal

Another blown opportunity. And this one was on a plate.

Plus we coulda/shoulda picked up points on our near arrivals. Crew drew. NYC drew after being down by 2 goals. And Cincy lost.

It shoulda been 3-0 at HT instead of 1-0. Vanzeir should be sent to Siberia… he absolutely cannot hit the target. One turnover came perfectly to him, and he skied it from 8 yards… it was a veritable broadside-of-a-barn miss.

Luckily shortly after that Carmona Showed him how it’s done.

We owned 1T. But then the 2 hour rain delay, and we were a different team in 2T.

Plus our old nemesis Josef M was subbed on to haunt us yet again… both of their goals.

Not to mention Sean Nealis giving up a PK and being ejected on a DOGSO.

We seem such a different team than we were at the start of the season. We really miss Forsberg and a CF who can score goals, or at least hit the target!

I was toying with going to tonight’s game, but luckily the forecast kept me away. That would’ve been really frustrating to watch, not to mention the long rain delay. I think there were 112 fans in the stadium for the second half.

My Plan B is Saturday’s game against Cincy. Hope to go. But have a little trepidation because of how poorly we’re playing.
