A DP striker alone would be enough to take us over the top. As for a CB; I think it might be more prudent to bring in a veteran type player, not necessarily costing much money, to help both Reyes and Eile mature and cut out mistakes. Both these guys have a higher ceiling than Nealis and the sooner they “figure it out” the better the team will be.
I had a busy day and I just did a Google. It seems we are facing Inter Miami in Miami and up at the half. If we pull this off, I will be very impressed. Highlights have shown with more chances and looking like the better team.
I saw the highlights, the galacticos finally hit their stride. I now get the one guy who is upset about Inter Miami. It is wild the league allows a team like this to exist while others are hampered by weird cost regulations. I don't think RBNY ever had a comparable payroll. As for the game Reyes is not 1st choice quality and neither is Duncan. They got played or played guys onside repeatedly. We need a proper CB, RB and CF. Send a message to De Guzman, go get Zimmerman, Ugo and whoever is a quality RB.
Just watched the game on replay, even though I was spoiled on the result due to the thumbnail score not being turned off on the backup iPad I had to use. Here are my observations: All female referee crew... nice to see! I'm guessing the 1st time MLS has done this? Pretty sure EPL never has Forsberg was silky, espec in first 30 mins or so... is really impressing!... his turn & thruball on our opening goal was a chef's kiss, not to mention Vanzier's cool finish At that point we'd been the better team, or at least equal Ill-discipline (3 cards in quick succession) is still haunting us... Sandro has to root that out... I was certain we'd go down to 10 or 9, but thankfully we kept our heads, and the HR kept her cards in her pocket more, at least for us Other than that, we shoulda been quite happy with our 1T performance and a 1-0 lead Came out for 2T lookin for goal #2 ... BUT... Carmona's sloppy f-up in our defensive third, presented Messi with a gift which he gladly converted ... AND... Miami never looked back, and boy did they take it to another level in 2T!!! Morgan was invisible tonight, what a difference from the reverse fixture, and meanwhile... Messi looked to be playing completely within himself and yet assisted 5, scored 1 (breaking several MLS records there)... master class! His thruball pass on #3 was a jaw dropper Goal #5 was telepathy between Leo & Luis Are Miami gonna be like the Man City of MLS this season? Do they have enough squad depth? Time to put this behind us... probably won't face a team as dominant as that the rest of the season In that regard, the fact that we kept working hard for our late/second goal showed good spirit (and fitness!), during what was arguably a humiliating spanking p.s. "Shea Stadium" was all I kept hearing out of Steve Cangiolosi's mouth.
The all female referee missed an obvious straight red card on Miami. We still would’ve lost but cmon. No need to repeat the points about the defensive shortcomings of our backs but had we actually had a DP striker maybe that would’ve forced Miami to play a little more defensive. It won’t happen but in a fantasy world, I wonder what MLS would do if Redbull decided to say F THIS and start “spending” money on real players like Miami does?
Oh, I forgot to mention another pet peeve of mine. We wore those stupid yellow kits when we could easily wore our red ones. Not that they’re bad but I believe in wearing your primary colors as often as possible.
This. X100 ps. What really infuriates me is when we wear yellow (or gray or whatever) at home like our previous match. WTF!
Solid win last night. Sort of let DC have their way the last 15 minutes or so but overall a great win with a rotated lineup. Now onto the big game Saturday.
On plane home now, after bday vaca, and just caught up with the DCU recap. Didn’t watch full game but we looked Impressive in our clinicality. The awareness and inch-perfect strike for Manoel then Harper scoring/assisting the other 2 goals… man that’s all good! Got the impression we tried to sit back and manage a 2-0 lead, which I’m generally not a fan of, but we pulled it off this time. Onward to Da Bronx and another big rivalry… P.s. we sit 3rd in East and 4th overall, after 13 games… not bad Sandro!
Charlotte tonight on a Wednesday. That means it’s Manoel time!! Also, they better wear red not to mention win
I see we a had nothing to say about the loss against the Blue Satan. Nothing pisses me off more than losing to them and the fact that they have dominated the derbies the past few years.. Everytime we lose it's cause we are too loose at the back. Not tight to the man, not communicating and not cutting off the cross or defending them well. And as usual, we are wasteful in front of goal.
I watched it a little after FT. Glad I didn’t watch it live with a 1 hour storm delay between the halves. Kudos to Sandro and the boys for turning around and relatively dismal 1T into a dominant 2T. And Emil Forsberg is the real deal. The way he turns on the ball in tight spaces is elite. And two goals by him tonight is well deserved. Really really enjoying this signing. Ps. For now I’m gonna avoid any negatives, like the attendance or Reyes’ defending.
I don’t know why it is there weren’t any comments after the the Blue derby. I had many opinions. LOL. I stayed for the whole Charlotte game. The irony is that if you left during the delay, you got soaked. If you stayed, the rain died off. Obviously the delay did wonders because we were sort of outplayed in the first half and looked like another team in the second. An observation about the fans. Only the true diehards stayed for the second half. Obviously if this were a Saturday night, more people would’ve stayed. It’s a very strange thing to say because there were less people in the second half but being there in person, it seemed more lively than the first half. Anyway, I’ll be back Saturday. Continue getting 3 points and let’s get that striker that we need!!!!
Watched the recap. We were the dominant team and yet it still felt like a ground out win. Credit to the boys. What was Tolkien’s injury? The way he walked off the pitch he didn’t look too bad.
FT NER 1-0 NYRB Not a great match. But by rights it shoulda ended 0-0. We gave up a late goal. To a bad team. 19YO Sofo got his debut, looked lively, but neglected to cover Boatang on his game winner. We were without Coronel, Elie, Tolkin, Forsberg, Morgan due to national callups. A largely forgettable night.
