When is the next game? MLS website has nothing. It'll be on the road in Florida again, regardless. In Orlando this time.
International break next week. The clubs that won last weekend have 21 days between games. Apologies for the delay in giving my analysis after the game. *ahem* WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I wish to congratulate our brother fans of Atlanta on their fine team and their even finer accomplishment last night. Well Done!!
Orlando City vs Atlanta United Inter&Co Stadium, Orlando Sunday, Nov. 24, 3:30 PM Apple TV MLSsoccer.com preview here. AJC.com United coverage AUFC home page Orlando home page Player Availability Reports here. So, did the international break give the Stripes time to rest and get healthy, or did it stifle momentum? Will Atlanta rise up regardless of the opponent, or was the chance to show up Messi just something special? Time to find out. The Stripes go back to Mouseland in hopes of recreating their Decision Day upset. Miranchuk and Saba are back from international duty. Alexy played 75' and scored in Russia's match on Tuesday against Syria, while Saba only played the last 11' and change in Georgia's Nation's League loss to Czechia last week. Hopefully no jetlag issues for them. News from training ground has been mostly positive the past two weeks, as well, so fingers crossed the lads are all prime and ready. Vamos Atlanta!
* boots up device * PC: "Hey! How about we do a massive system update? Cool!" In the meantime the lineup is 3 at the back while Lennon remains injured. So Abram, Williams, and Gregersen will front Guzan while.Amador and Slisz spend more time pushing forward.
6'. Guzan and Saba save Atlanta's hides in an attack that hit the post and got cleared off the line.... Only for all that to be called back for offside.
16' sees Atlanta with it's first sustained attack. Yields a couple crosses and a corner... Nothing more.
27' sees Thiare gets chopped down in a potential counter attack. No yellow, surprisingly. Jamal gets treatment on the sidelines while Atlanta fights on with 10.
39' 1-0 Orlando scores off a corner. Ball whips in, dies after hitting Gregersen, and Enrique is first to the ball as it sits about 4 yds from goal. Shortly after Thiare has to be subbed out. Rios in .
Watching, but my family keeps interrupting with whatever this "real life" is they keep talking about. So far, Orlando looks like the better team. More willing to play the crappy thuggish soccer required in the playoffs.
HT: 1-0 Atlanta hasn't looked too threatening, so they'll have to change things up somehow if they're to get back into this. Defensively, it looks like the Stripes' formation or tactics isn't doing enough to account for Orlando's midfield runs. This is both allowing Orlando more chances and causing frustration for Atlanta when they try to hold the ball. Stripes' midfielders spending too much time with their heads on a swivel.
Rewatching the goal, Amador stopped running with Enrique but unsure if he could've done anything about it since he was already behind his man. It did bounce off Gregersen funny, like a golf shot that hit and stuck. Studio crew suggesting Atlanta needs to change formation, and I agree
So, right off the bat after the first minute of the second half Rios has to be subbed off under concussion protocol. Hernandez comes on, meaning Alexy(?) will play up top.
59'. Williams makes an errant pass and then foils the Orlando player in the counter. Yellow duly earned.
