Supposedly it was a minor thing and they wanted to keep him from having to play 3 games in 8 days. Now we're what ... two months into this?

Based on current PPG, Miami is projected to finish with 73 pts, tied with 2021 Revs.

Could be decided by the Revs at MIA match on Decision Day.

I've always thought that if they added a roof to this stadium it would then turn it into a proper soccer specific stadium.

Carlos Vela has returned to LAFC, surprisingly. I guess at age 35 he's helping them bring their average age down somewhat.

DeJuan Jones came on late last night in the Campeones Cup Final (last year's MLS Cup winner v LigaMX's Campeón de Campeones), but the Crew lost in PKs to Club America in Columbus. Crew got a late goal to tie. Jones made his PK (he was the fifth shooter) but they went to extra kicks, and Crew lost. Controversy in the penalties as the Mexican keeper clearly was early off the line on his last save, but VAR somehow ignored it.

Miami has dropped 6 pts by drawing 3 straight games, putting them at 65 points. Their assault on the Revs 2021 record 73-point season now requires them to win all 3 of their remaining games to reach 74 points.

If the Crew beat (or tie) the Herons tonight in Columbus, it will be over, and the record is safe for another season. If Miami wins tonight, and in Toronto on Saturday, it will come down to their final game on Decision Day, at home, against (gulp) the Revs....

Yes, I know, I jinxed them. My bad.

CLB had this game in the bag, but
    1. A CLB defender collided with his GK, gifting Miami a goal

    2. Cucho Hernandez misfired on his second PK of the night, allowing an easy save by Callendar.

Apparently he's been forgiven for his transgressions that were sooooo bad that it was better to blow up a legit contender, now we might actually find out what he did that was so bad....

Crew get swept out of the playoffs by RBNY, losing in penalties last night. DeJuan was subbed out in the 54th while the game was still scoreless (ended 2-2). He was subbed in in the first game in the 72nd (at home) where they lost 1-0.

Personally I think Crew were the only team that could keep Miami from winning it all. I hope now that I'm wrong.

Article on Arena's return from Jeff Carlisle at ESPN
    This part:
When asked to comment on his departure from New England, Arena again declined to offer specifics. He said he was "extremely proud" of what he had accomplished with the Revs, and added he had engaged in some restorative practice work in a bid to move on from the episode. When pressed on what exactly he said, Arena indicated: "It was just staff joking around with each other in private. I accept any of the criticism and I'm moving forward."

    I hate you, Richie Williams.

I still feel that there is far too little information on that incident and we have suffered for it. But, the more interesting part to me was when Arena said:

"You can't change a dozen players in one year, so I think we need to have some patience. I think the roster's a heck of a lot better than they demonstrated this past year. It's not a 21-point roster. Is it a 30-point roster? Is it 40 points? Is it 50 points? I don't know, but the roster is certainly more capable than they showed in 2024."

First and foremost I think Porter STARTED with a team that is better than 31 points. How would they have done with Arena (or some other competent coach) in charge? Did Onalfo and Porter change upwards of a dozen? I guess we'd have to agree how to count (which would never happen here).

Ritche, is still on the payroll isn't he? He still has a desk in Foxborough, doesn't he?

Of course Arena is going to minimize it, but essentially that was what it was - inappropriate comments to staff in closed door meetings.

    - if it was really as innocuous as Arena suggests, does MLS come down that hard on him? I doubt it.

    - could Arena have taken the punishment and returned to his job? I see two equally plausible explanations for why that didn’t happen:

    1) he saw what a mess the organization made during his suspension, including dividing and blowing up his staff, not to mention the locker room and deciding he wanted no part of it, or …

    2) the suspension empowered the backstabbers and opportunists in the organization who had problems with his level of power/control and used the situation to undermine him.

Of course two things can be true. Sometimes family-owned businesses have the most insidious corporate politics and infighting.

Arena is gone and it hardly matters why at this point. Poor behavior stipulated, I still think he has demonstrated above average coaching capability in MLS. One might argue the same for Porter I guess. I’m moving on to wanting item 1 or 2, I don’t really care, to happen with Billelo, Onalfo and Porter.

    Out out out!!! Quickly please.

Can't deny I'm rather surprised that Curtin was fired by Philly.
