Weak, weak, weak. I don't like this Disney Princess no. The frail wallflower. Hasan yesterday Exceptional. The best female Oranje athlete of all-time. The male marathon runner also a thumbs up Irrespective of the final result.
At the BBC they showed a medal table where we finish ahead of Great Britain Only hosts France is of the European countries more successful
For someone called weak, Femke Bol delivered a stunning performance with a personal bronze and single handed delivering the Netherlands gold and silver in her run from 4th position to silver in the 4x400 women and gold in the 4x400 mixed relay. There are countries with tenths to a couple of hundred million people with less medals.

Well, this time people (and myself) didn't see all that stress and tears before a gun fires. So that's well done, but the Americans were again faster. The sort of reality many didn't want to acknowledge before the Games.
1877 Consider this medal list as the supernova explosion before it's death, as with this extremist government plan cutting like mad billions in base sporting facilities for stimulating children to excercise and sport, talents will go unnoticed or can't afford to sport as fees will have to go up for sportclubs. We're going to fall back to Belgian medal counts.
I have always been a huge fan and always thought the Disney Princess called Bol receives way too much attention in comparison. The hijab is not so nice, to use in that backdrop. She has very often not used a hijab in the past - the symbol of opression. In the countries with the highest percentages of hijabs women aren't even allowed to sport. In many countries where hijabs is custom the women aren't allowed to drive a car. Eight years ago: Three years ago: Etc. The hijab is just trolling and offensive to the French. It is trolling the French government. 1822724893303091592 is not a valid tweet id For me she was already one of the greatest in Oranje history, that was once again confirmed, but the hijab is a small 'minus'.... the swastika of the early 21st century... unnecesary.
Your language is over the top. Orthodox Jewish women all wear wigs to cover their hair. Some Muslim women wear a simple head scarf. There are head coverings for men in a variety of religions as well. Is that any different? Personally, I think this is all nonsense, but individuals ought to be able to make their own decisions. Hassan may be protesting in the same way Tommie Smith and John Carlos did in 1968.
Dude, you're equating a sign under which tens of miilions in Europe and Africa were killed/murdered with a religious symbol that has none such history. So why don't you call out the carrying of crosses by athletes, especially American ones? Under that symbol millions of Jews were killed pre WWII in Europe, millions were mutrdered in Africa/Asia/the America's and in the USA the KKK marched with it killing black people. If one symbol comes close to the swastika heritage it's the cross. You really need to spend some time reflecting things. By the way, your reference of the Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone gettho thing was offensive as can be too.
Yeah, but more importantly the women in many muslim countries being denied to compete on (inter)national level see here at the final ceremony someone like them celebrating gold with a hijab, which in fact also is a middlefinger up to the ayatollas etc. So basically she put up a middlefinger to the secular French, but also to the religious conservative clergy of many muslim countries.
The IOC doesn't want political statements. Understandably so. You are a guest in the French country, just as how orange fans were a guest at euro 2024 in Germany (and behaved themselves! And more than that!). Avery Brundage, the American president of IOC, was very unhappy with the statements of 1968. The hijab is for me a symbol of putting half of the population in an inferior position. Where the hijab and niqab is most dominant, the women have the least rights. If someone deeply believes this and that it is intrinsically part of your religion, I can respect that, but clearly she doesn't use the hijab all the time and also not at (all?) previous podium ceremonies. This is just trolling the French, who have organized a fantastic event (save for the Seine and some minor things) and a small thing I don't like. You are a guest in a foreign country; IOC doesn't want political statements. We can also behave ourselves in Germany this year. But again, this is just a minor thing. I have been a 'fan' for quite some time.
An ice cold, steel mentality from the ghetto (I also placed a question mark behind that ghetto comment!) is not offensive. In comparison to our sensitive and crying (before the gunsound!) wallflower athletes it is a compliment. Look at that focus and determination! pic.twitter.com/hmYlAVWtfe— Michael Johnson (@MJGold) August 11, 2024 As a 45-70 years old white male you don't want to face someone like that in a back alley! I am not a Christian (though grown up in the protestant tradition) but the Christian cross does not correlate with oppression and secondary status for women or secondary status for other sections of society and the world. The hijab really does. Where the hijab is strong, women aren't allowed to sport! https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/co...mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button https://www.pewresearch.org/short-r...opriate-attire-for-women-in-muslim-countries/ As the first link shows, in Ethiopia and Kenya it is already markedly less common as in other (nearby) countries. They are both in a lower category. That's part of why they are succesful! Either way, just a small remark. France is a quite normal country. You can behave yourself as guest when you are there. You sporadically use the hijab yourself. The closing ceremony isn't about you.
Worst possible example you could pick. He kow-towed to Hitler in 1936 and was an avowed anti-Semite and hated Black people as well.
How many people died over the years because of the cross (Crusades, Pope's silence in WW II)? Why can't women be Priests in the Catholic church? Women are subservient to men in many Evangelical sects.
