I spoke too soon earlier when I mentioned us doing the right thing and holding the ball. They have fallen right into the eternal US trap -- backing off like fools when holding a lead, and allowing the opposition to simply play in our end.
Why do we keep voluntarily playing the ball backwards, toward our own goal, over and over again? They do know that is exactly where Australia needs the ball to be, right?
One more minute. Sonnett defending scares me. Last ditch effort on the corner, all 11 Aussies come up for it.
Now Australia's fate is in the hands of Canada or New Zealand. Does "drone spying" violate FIFA's rules or just French local rules? That's crazy, talking about Canada's system drone spying, men or women....
Statistically speaking, we had a goal to give, but I really felt confident that we would win this game, based on personnel on both sides of the ball.
I'm hoping Davidson is back for the next game. Sonnett might still have to play though in midfield, or Albert could start as the 6.
She looks shaky often enough when defending next to goal. I don't mind her playing higher up the field, though.
If Davidson is not good to go, I'm OK with giving her another match to recover. Can't risk losing her in the semifinals, if we make it that far.
I'll endorse what somebody said earlier: the broadcast has far too many cutaways from the match to see fans behaving dumbly.
