Lavelle is, deceptively, very fast and surprised me. She chased down 2-3 Germans on a break who were running at full speed. I had to double check in order to see the name on the back of her jersey.
I thought this too, but then realized that the team was probably told to hold the ball as much as they could, which they've done very successfully. Every time you take a shot and are unsuccessful it gives the opposing team a chance at a quick counter and Germany is very good at those. I like it, as long as they can maintain possession.
Germany doesn't scare me, it's Spain that has me concerned. Although, I think Emma is the right coach to best deal with Spain's style of play.
Naeher's vast body of work and success has dispelled any such notions in me. She reminds me of Jill Ellis, in a way. I did not like Ellis' interviews; she instilled very little confidence. But her success at the highest level was undeniable.
Basking in the afterglow of the performance of the Greatest Team in the Universe. Take THAT Milky Way Galaxy! Please post any news on T’s status to this thread-thanks.
Been looking for a while …not much out there yet. https://www.essentiallysports.com/s...swnt-star-how-did-she-get-injured-vs-germany/
I think its more nuanced. I think Hayes is letting the team get out on the counter when they see it available, but once its not, stop, recycle possession and let players get into their rest defense shape. That is how we play to our strengths (going fast with the front 3) while also minimizing the negative effects of a wide open transition game.
Was in Marseille last fall, went up to that Cathedral, was fun, still had bullet holes from WW2 in it. Know exactly where you took that picture! Good for you. Wish I was there!!
I think this is true, to a degree. I clearly recall 1-2 opportunities, in the second half though, where the break was definitely on with a chance for a good SOG by a US player, but they stopped and recycled anyway. It was a little frustrating, but I was happy that we maintained possession and didn't give the ball up cheaply.
According to this article she is on the roster. https://www.sportingnews.com/ca/soc...ster-2023-team-squad/i699yvqvgn3k9kk9op2c05r9
Thx, but I guess I should have Googled it before posting (I'm lazy that way) https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/le...ter-joining-bayern-munich/bltf77dbabfe4c30358 ACL tear...Ouch!
And I should have searched a little better. Butt I often get lazy as well. A little unrelated non soccer message: Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler BTW: I do not use Google as i trust them very little. i search using DuckDuckGo. i know they "could" be a corrupt as Google just hiding it better but I really think they are exactly as they say they are. They also have a browser that I wanted to use, its free, but for some reason it flat will not install on my totally up to date Windows 10 computer. No errors or anything but just a failure for the installer to install anything.
They didn’t “scare me”, but based on decades of competition, it’s great to spank them. Maybe it will shut up Arie Hingst who claims the U.S. has never been the most skilled team.
