Gotham's Kelley O'Hara has announced she will retire at the end of the season Denise O'Sullivan is rumored to be headed to Man U in the summer window
A quick reminder that the NWSL secondary transfer and trade window will be in August this year (later than last year), AFTER the summer cup group round, ending before the CONCACAF W Champions Cup second group matchday. I'm not sure what roster freeze restrictions there might be regarding the CWCC.
There’s rumor that Lyon’s Delphine Cascarino will be moving to San Diego. This would definitely would be a big catch for them. She was the MVP of the 2016 u20 MVP. Went through a couple of injuries after that, so might of not lived up to expectations, but nevertheless a phenom dribbler, a very fun to watch & an available asset to any club
Claudia Zornoza will be heading to Utah. Claudia Zornoza Signs With Utah Royals FC Through 2025 | Utah Royals (rsl.com)
Julia Grosso (Canadian national team member) has signed with CRS - I think three-year deal, coming from Italian league.
some new international signings; Gotham signs English NT Jesse Carter(CB or FB) Red Stars sign Brazilian NT Ludmilla(striker) Reign sign Haitian NT Mondesir(dunno position)
a few more to add; in one day we the NWSL sgetting arguably the two fastest woso players in the world in Chloe Lacasse(Arsenal) to Utah Royals Jessica Silva(Benfica) to Gotham Katie Zelem(Man U) to San Diego
You cannot be serous that Jessica Silva is one of the fastest players in the world??????? She is quick, but nowhere close to one of the faster forwards.
I wrote "arguably" cuz so far there's ever been in an official sprinting contest to really determine that. Maybe your thinking of an different Jessica?, Mine would be this one
Orlando has bought Carson Pickett back from Louisville! She last played with the Pride in 2020, and had a stint with NC in the interim.
I always liked Jessica Silva, but I tend to see her more as a fantastic technical-gifted player, than as an actually fast one. For years Portugal's actual greyhound was Ana Borges instead (now too old, but at the beginning of the '10s she was really fast).
but as an winger, outside Portugal, she’s never been an proficient goal scorer, recording zero goals at her previous stays at Lyon & KC(though it could of been due to lack of playing time)
Lynn Williams, Rodman, Smith, Swanson, Banda, Kundanaji, Kerolin, Paralluelo, both Chawinga sisters, Caroline Graham Hansen to name a few. I am obviously missing several internationals but this is a sampling.
She's never gonna be eligible for the Hall of Fame: 🗞️ | #GothamFC has signed Heather O'Reilly as an Injury Replacement Player through Aug. 19, 2024. pic.twitter.com/z0KPc6hhxl— NJ/NY Gotham FC - x (@GothamFC) August 19, 2024
Following up on this: Louisville has been going gangbusters on the trade market recently! First Pickett, then sending their captain(!) Howell to Seattle in exchange for Balcer, then they signed Colombian Angela Baron, and today they picked up Beckie from Portland in exchange for Turner. Wonder what they're cooking...
Cortnee Vine - NC Courage Delphine Cascarino used to be ver I'd add Cortnee Vine (NC Courage) to the list.
Alex Morgan had announced her second pregnancy, and also her professional retirement after this weekend's game. =Edit= Just watched the full announcement reel on FB. Sounds like she was planning on retiring at the end of the season anyway, and the pregnancy just bumped that up.
