Unfortunately, there's no "I-Player" app where you can easily replace a player like Morris. In many cases, given our league's status in world soccer, you have to develop them yourselves, and that takes time. Still, I'm hoping we will be more active this off season. But pickings are slim(er) at this time due to the fact that this is a secondary window.

They did say that they have at least 3 targets for each position on the field….

These (bolded) seem to be things that would be in harmony together and not in conflict

I had that "woah. That *was* this year" feeling when I saw a post the other day about the ref lockout. I had a similar feeling the year the tailgates started in Grandview Yard.

It was definitely a long season.

Number wise for depth your short a spot at CM, by not getting someone it’s a bad move. The injury to Zawadzki was brutal because of it. While we managed it in regular season , Zawadzki was out of form for playoffs with no true CM option. They knew in advance he was leaving and should have had another Cm prospect lined up regardless of how good they were. Yes getting someone as good as Morris is unlikely for that price. But that’s not the point.

It fits their model, but I still see value in the draft. If you get a generation adidas player who also turns out like Schulte, Cellantano, or McGuire you make out with a good amount of savings in cap. Philly's best player of the past 10 years is a super draft pick.

Beyond round 1, or even halfway through round 1, I don't see much value. I'd only draft GKs, CBs, and strikers all of which mature a little later and their skills are easier to evaluate. When was the last time a midfielder we drafted even saw time? Luis Argudo and Niko Hansen? Both berhalter picks

Okay I looked up the 2024 picks who got time last season, and there were 5 players. 3 of which I recognized the name.

Why the heck are so many people looking for Arsenal stuff? Seems odd.

Probably because they were really popular when EPL started gaining popularity in the early-mid 2000’s. Henry, Pires, Viera, Cole, Wenger, etc.

Would that be the same "mid table" spending bracket which they employ in Cleveland?

Seems to me they get a lot more bang for their buck with a guy like Cucho than they ever will with the serial gropist.

I interpret the post by @DCED2019 as the Crew having a similar collaborative approach to the Browns (between owner-GM-coach).

The Browns are nowhere close to consistently competing with Pittsburgh and Baltimore in their division. Beyond that, they would have to get past Kansas City and Buffalo to reach a Super Bowl.

So ... is the difference between the Browns and Crew's success down to:

    - Bez (who left)
    - Nancy being Nancy
    and also preferring cheaper players
-And the Cucho signing being a home run?

I don't know much about the Browns, but re: the Crew, our success certainly predates the Cucho era. Nancy, too. We won MLS with Porter & Zelarayan in 2020, for example. As far as major, impactful signings, the (in essence) Zelarayan/Rossi "swap' has also been important.

Which kinda whittles the formula down to Bez who, as you say, isn't here any longer.
