I just randomly stumbled across the Leagues Cup Final thread:

**Checks playoff scores because that's still going on.**
    Orlando, huh?

Philly not in Leagues Cup next season? Whaaaaat?
1861796024752407014 is not a valid tweet id

"But in recent seasons where we had less tournaments, and by the way, this will be the case in this season as well because we all know we don't play the Champions Cup, but we are also out of Leagues Cup. And I think it's even a positive for us in this moment, as I know that our fans don't overly love our Leagues Cup[...]"

Maybe not all MLS teams will qualify for leagues cup and they take a set number from the top of the standings. Perhaps even having the same amount of MLS & Liga MX sides ???

im just guessing ( if it’s true Philly is not in leagues cup)

I wonder if the top of the league does Leagues Cup and the bottom USOC.

Now, I am for ditching Leagues Cup altogether, but I appear to be in the minority there.

Considering the kind of schedule congestion that the league has created and that clubs have to deal with, I'd be in favor of a tiered system where:

    - top clubs qualify for CCC
    - 2nd tier clubs qualify for Leagues Cup
    - the also rans go into the USOC

Cincy spending 16 million and keeping Miles, Orellano, Nwobodo is kinda scary. They sent Kevin Kelsey and Gioachinni packing.

Bruce gets Romney, Harkes, and Kaye to San jose.

Porter gets an expensive cb who probably won't work out for him

FIFA gonna FIFA, Saudi gonna Saudi.

I wasn’t watching anyway, so I don’t care. Neither does FIFA apparently, they got paid so they’re good.

People act like MLS is pure evil, have they seen the shit FIFA and CONCACAF regularly pull?

re the CWC, FIFA is trying to hold up both Coke and adidas for money over this tournament. Both of them shelled out hundreds of millions in an omnibus deal that assured them sponsorship rights for ALL FIFA events until.the end of 2026.

Now FIFA is claiming that when they said "all" they really meant "all, unless we come up with a bogus club event". adidas and Coke, apparently, have actual lawyers on retainer (imagine that) who are busily explaining the definition of "all" - perhaps in several languages - and that when FIFA cashed their enormous checks it obligated them to live up to the terms as written.

But to FIFA, word definitions are rather flexible apparently.

A quick search reveals the country is still known as Saudi Arabia. If this is the case, then I'm reading "ambitious Saudi" to be a person.

I can't explain the second mention. I found a website that lists countries with recent name changes and Saudi Arabia is not on there.

In English speaking countries it’s called Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia itself it’s just called Saudi. The ruling family is the House of Saud, so Saudi is the descriptor of their land (America vs American).

Either Saudi Arabia or Saudi is fine. Saudi seems more common in Europe, Saudi Arabia more common here.

The US military usually refers to it just as "Saudi," as it is common for the military to truncate words or use abbreviations or acronyms (which are technically abbreviations also).

If you've seen Lawrence of Arabia, the Alec Guinness character is Prince Faisal. After WW1 ended, the British set up 3 kingdoms with Faisal's family, the Hashem's, in power. Those 3 are now known as Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Iraq. In the 20s, Aziz al-Saud overthrew the Hashem family in what's now Saudi Arabia. In the 50s, the king of Iraq was deposed in a military coup. The Hashem family continues to rule Jordan in what is known officially as the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
