I just love when someone is kicked upstairs. Hell, I've often wished that I could get kicked upstairs. You get a nice office, sit in on some meetings, take long lunches, write some reports that nobody reads, day drink whenever you feel like it, play golf with the right people, get sent to charity events, jaycee luncheons and golf scrambles, go home at 3:00, you cant get fired and nobody cares what you do because youre not actually responsible for anything Kind of like being Archie Griffin only you dont have to get your ass handed to you by Lawrence Taylor or Jack Lambert first. Sign me up.
Archie has a funny story about Paul Brown calling a play that involved him blindside blocking Lambert.
A fine hire, but I also agree, I think in major league soccer in 2025 It’s very hard to be both head coach and DoF. I wonder if he will go with his old 4231 that he used in Columbus or if he would use a 433? I also wonder if he would be better as a head coach or a director of football if he had to be just one
Christ, Gregg in Chicago, Porter in New England… both in our conference. That’s four games a year with a lot of associated deja vu shit going on. Mostly, they’ll serve as painful reminders of how we used to play. Not all bad, of course. But a predictable, slow, stubborn style of play.
Klopas has been a longtime part of the Fire as a player, front office, technical director, and sort of a temp. head coach brought on for his second stint after Ezra was dismissed. So yes, he was probably involved in the coach search. Not sure if ended up being better than Ezra?
Games in Bolivia are nearly always played in or around LaPaz, one of its two capitals, which sits at 11,900 ft above sea level. This particular match was in one of its suburbs, which sits at a whopping13,000 ft above sea level! Bolivia rarely loses home matches because teams struggle with this amazingly high altitude. It makes Denver, or Mexico City (7300), or Pachuca 7900) look like a walk in the park.
Yeah, now they play at El Alto (The Heights). Not sure about this window, but the previous window they basically picked a big chunk of the local team from there to play for Bolivia, since they are already conditioned for it. Their quality isn’t that good, but if they can still run after like… 10 minutes, then the other team is screwed. I honestly think FIFA should intervene, it’s a legitimate health risk.
Messi has just unfortunately won MVP at this point. Cucho had somewhat of a chance but after Miami just got the points record in a game where he scored a hat trick — his first ever in MLS — Cucho isn’t getting it
Just win MLS Cup and then talk about how the tournament is a joke. We are the only team that can beat Miami.
Was told multiple MLS owners are upset with how MLS has handled this situation. Even some of the big market teams don’t like the arbitrary nature of MLS’s decision to hand out this kind of honor. Will be interesting to hear Garber address this. https://t.co/jN7i1zqAJQ— Patrick Murphy (@_Pat_Murphy) October 20, 2024
And one of the replies: Confirm Crew owners are NOT happy. If qualification criteria had been announced as Supporters Shield a year ago, they would probably not have pursued Leagues or CONCACAF Champions Cup as heavily. Not revealing the criteria delegitimizes the entire “qualification” process.— A Ed (@AEd80491418) October 20, 2024 Yeah...they gotta feel real happy right now playing in the Leagues Cup Final and CCC Final. How many trophies have we actually won so far vs how many finals have we been in?
