Wow thanks, was able to watch the last few innings at work using that second stream. Crazy, Yokohoma only got out of the group due to Hiroshima's collapse. When I was in Japan a couple of months ago, it looked like it was a three-way fight between Giants, Tigers, and Carp with the latter in the lead, and Yokohama weren't even in the picture for the playoffs. What a turnaround! I guess you could say it must be i their DeNA!

A full look at Game 6 from the perspective of supporters including the brother of Hawks shortstop Kenta Imamiya.

Masayuki Kuwahara's MVP performance has made his dugout production of 'The Fox Dance' go viral in Japan.
This happened back on 2 June during the BayStars' Interleague game against the Nippon-Ham Fighters and was dubbed the 'Mantis Dance'.
Kuwahara, along with SoftBank's 3rd baseman Ryoya Kurihara will be joining Samurai Japan's team this weekend as their preparations for the Premier12 tournament continues.

Yeah, as a Hanshin fan I thought Hiroshima had it in the bag.
It makes me wonder which was the bigger collapse: The Carp in September or the Hawks in October. I'm stunned how quiet SoftBank's bats were after Game 2. I had predicted they would easily beat the BayStars in 5 games.

Shota Imanaga, who was posted last winter by the Yokohama BayStars and had an excellent debut season in MLB with the Chicago Cubs, sent his former team a video message which the team posted to its twitter account on Monday.
"Congratulations to all the players and fans of the Yokohama DeNA BayStars on winning the Japan Series"
"I was captivated by the sight of both teams playing with all their might in the Climax Series, First Stage, Final Stage, and Japan Series. It was a truly amazing series. Thank you for all your hard work."

Among the reaction comments from fans...
    "He's here, Professor Imanaga!!"
"Imanaga, Bauer, Escobar, you're all the best!!"
"Professor Imanaga!!! Even though we're apart, our hearts are united!!! Thank you!!!"
"He left his assets with the team and took on the challenge of playing in the majors, but he also made a big contribution to winning the Japan Series!"
"Thank you for caring about the BayStars from across the ocean!"
"Congratulatory comments from a major leaguer! That is exciting!"

An 8th inning sacrifice fly from Ryoya Kurihara off his SoftBank Hawks teammate Livan Moinelo scored Ryota Isobata (Fighters) from third base with the go ahead run and Shoma Fujihira (Eagles) pitched himself into and out of a tough 9th inning jam as Japan assured themselves with a spot in the Super Round following a tense and dramatic 7-6 victory over Cuba 7-6 at the rainy and windy Tianmu Ballpark in Taipei.

Kurihara and Keita Sano (BayStars) led the offensive attack with 2 RBIs each as Samurai Japan extended their international win streak in major tournaments to 23 games dating back to 2019.

Cuba were nearly as affective as the plate and even outhit the reigning Premier12 champions 10-8. But they, like their opponents, stranded a total of 12 runners on base which included leaving the bases loaded in the 6th and 9th innings.

Starting pitcher Takahisa Hayakawa (Eagles) was magnificent for 5 innings allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and 1 walk but was chased with one out in the 6th after giving up a run on 1 hit and 2 walks. He finished with 7 strikeouts.

Fujihira came on in the 9th with Japan up 7-6 but loaded the bases before fanning Yoán Moncada and Andy Cosme to close out the emotional win.

Toshiya Satō (Marines) went 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs and a run scored to help lead Japan to a 11-3 victory over the Dominican Republic in Taipei on Monday.

The win completes a five game unbeaten Opening Round for the defending champions as they finish top of Group B and will meet the United States, Venezuela and Chinese Taipei in the Super Round in Tokyo.

Shota Morishita also achieved a 3-hit modasho scoring 3 runs while Shogo Sakakura (Carp) and Kotaro Kurebayashi also each drove in 2 runs.

Kaito Kozono hit two home runs and drove in 7 runs to power Japan past the United States 9-1 on the first gameday of the Super Round at the Tokyo Dome on Thursday.

The Hiroshima Carp infielder was 3-for-5 that included a 2-run triple in the 5th inning, a 3-run home run in the 7th and a 2-run blast in the 8th.

Starting pitcher Hiroto Takahashi struck out 8 of the 14 batters he faced in 4 complete innings.

Reliever Chihiro Sumida fanned 3 batters in the 2 innings he worked after his second pitch was sent into the left field bleachers by Colby Thomas that briefly put the U.S. up 1-0 in the 5th.

Next up, Japan will face Venezuela on Friday in a contest likely to determine one of the two finalists for Sunday's gold medal game.

    Boxscore:
    https://baseball.yahoo.co.jp/premier12/game/2021028924/stats

Shugo Maki capped a six-run 6th inning with a grand slam as Japan stormed from behind to defeat Venezuela 9-6 on Gameday 2 of the Super Round.

The win puts Japan a crucial step closer to playing in Sunday's final.

Trailing 5-3 going into the bottom half of the 6th, Shogo Sakakura hit a one-out solo home run to cut the deficit to one.
And then with two outs, Japan induced a base hit and three walks to force in the tying run before Maki provided the grand slam heroics.

Ryosuke Tatsumi also had a stellar night at the plate with a 3-for-4 modasho with an RBI and 2 runs scored.

Hiroto Saiki added to his strikeout tally with 5 more over 5 innings.

A win on Saturday against Chinese Taipei would put Japan into the championship game on Sunday.
But a loss combined with Venezuela defeating the United States would make for a three-team tie atop the Super Group table. This would result in the tiebreak of Total Quality Balance (TQB) in which the formula of (Runs Scored / Offensive Innings) - (Runs Allowed / Defensive Innings) would determine the two finalists.

Samurai Japan officially qualified for the gold medal game on Sunday following the United States 6-5 win over Venezuela on Saturday afternoon.
Japan will play either Chinese Taipei or Venezuela in the final, pending the result and scoreline of the Japan-Chinese Taipei game tonight.

    Boxscore:
    https://baseball.yahoo.co.jp/premier12/game/2021028926/stats

Itsuki Murabayashi (Eagles) led off a 4-run 1st inning with a home run, Kotaro Kiyomiya (Fighters) hit a 2-RBI triple in the 5th and Ryosuke Tatsumi doubled home 2 runs in the 6th as Japan defeated Chinese Taipei 9-6 in the final contest of the Super Group.

The win Japan keeps Japan undefeated in the tournament and exte3nds their winning streak in major international tournament games to 27. Their last defeat at a major tournament came during a 2019 Premier12, a 4-3 defeat to the United States.

With Japan having already assured a spot in Sunday's gold medal game, Chinese Taipei would have also reached the final with either a win or a loss of no more than 5 runs. Feeling confident of the situation, Chinese Taipei manager Hao-Jiu Tseng decided to make a late pitching change following the United States victory over Venezuela, opting to start Chen Po-ching over their ace Yu-Min Lin to save him for Sunday. The move cost the team a $3,000+ fine by the WBSC. Hao-Jiu explained afterwards, “We want to go into tomorrow’s game in the best shape possible. That’s why we decided to do this.”

So the two baseball-loving nations will face off for the third time in this year's tournament. Japan won their Group B encounter 3-1.
