Daiki Tajima earned his fourth win of the year after throwing 7 shutout innings to lead the Orix Buffaloes to a 3-0 win over the SoftBank Hawks at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka.

Tajima gave up three hits and a walk in shutting down the Hawks powerful offense, striking out four batters along the way.

Tomoya Mori's RBI single to centerfield in the 1st inning ultimately held up to be the game winning hit. The Buffaloes added insurance runs in the 3rd and 6th innings to complete the scoring.

Tyler Austin blasted a solo home run in the 11th inning to give the DeNA BayStars a 6-5 Sayonara victory over the Chunichi Dragons.

It was 'Star Night' in Yokohama as the BayStars wore specialized uniforms written in kanji, and Keita Sano got the festivities going with a three-=run bomb in the bottom of the 2nd inning.

Yuudai Yamamoto extended the lead with a solo shot in the 4th, his second homer of the season.

Yutaro Itayama hit a two-run home run in the 6th for the Dragons, and Hiroki Fukunaga had a big night for the visitors with three doubles including the tying RBI in the 7th making the score 5-5, setting up Austin's heroics..

14 pitchers were used in all - seven by each team - as both offenses combined for 25 hits in all.

For the second consecutive game, the Hanshin Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to pull out a come-from-behind sayonara win.
Following the wild ending against the BayStars on Sunday, Koji Chikamoto did the honors Tuesday night with a bases loaded two-out single to right to give the Tigers a 2-1 walk off against the Yakult Swallows.
In the stands, Hanshin leads all of NPB with an average attendance of 41,808 at Koshien (and Osaka).

Katsuki Azuma was on his usual command as he hurled his second complete game shutout this year in leading the Yokohama DeNA BayStars to a 3-0 blanking of the Chunichi Dragons.

Azuma did not allow any walks while striking out eight in picking up his eighth consecutive decision win since the start of the season, the first pitcher in 56 years to achieve the feat. He tossed a career high 124 pitches on the night.

Tyler Austin homered for the 11th time this year.

Yuma Tongu's bases loaded sacrifice fly capped a two-run 9th inning to give the Orix Buffaloes a come-from-behind 4-3 sayonara victory over the SoftBank Hawks.

The Hawks led Orix 3-2 going to the last of the 9th but reliever Yuki Matsumoto surrendered three consecutive singles and hit batter Yūma Mune on a 2-0 pitch to force in the tying run. Sugimoto's game-winning sac fly was the only out recorded by SoftBank in the frame.

Ryoya Kurihara and Hotaka Yamakawa each homered for the visitors. For Yamakawa, it was his 14th bomb of the year.

The Lotte Marines erupted for 8 runs in the 1st inning before a single out had been recorded en route to an 18-5 destruction of the Rakuten Eagles.
Eagles starting pitcher Tomotaka Matsui, who allowed eight hits and one walk in the nine batters he faced, was in tears as he returned to the dugout.

There was only one game scheduled on Thursday ahead of Monday's full slate of games.

Yōta Kyōda singled home Keita Sano in the 10th inning to give the DeNA BayStars a sayonara 3-2 victory and complete a three-game sweep over the Chunichi Dragons at Yokohama Stadium.

The BayStars sent the game to an extra frame in the bottom of the 9th when Shugo Maki hit a long two-out RBI double off the Dragons intimidating closer Raidel Martínez that brought home pinch runner Naoto Chino from first base with the tying run. It was Martinez's first blown save in 39 appearances this season.

The walk off run was surrendered by veteran reliever Kohki Saitoh who suffered just his third career loss in 126 appearances in NPB.

In lieu of other game highlights here is 'diana' (aka Misa, Shizuku and Aki) in action in the Hamasta Battle. (Yokohama Stadium)
diana's career record is 85 wins, 27 losses.

Business as usual from Hiroto Takahashi who threw 8 shutout innings notching 11 strikeouts along the way as the Chunichi Dragons blanked the reigning champion Hanshin Tigers 3-0 in Nagoya.

Takahashi, who tossed a complete game 'Maddux' in his last appearance, allowed just three hits and two walks in another magnificent performance.
He hasn't allowed runs in eight of his last 11 starts. His ERA dropped to 0.58 on the year, and with 78 total innings pitched over the Dragons 83 games played Takahashi is roughly two or three outings away from qualifying status.

Chunichi's three runs in the 3rd inning included Seiya Hosokawa's ninth home run of the season.

Raidel Martínez, the intimidating 27 year old closer from Cuba who's in his seventh season with the Dragons, shut down Hanshin in the 9th to earn his 150th save of his NPB career.

Gakuto Wakabayashi, picked up in a trade with the Seibu Lions early in the season, shot a liner past a diving Kento Inoue to drive home the sayonara run in the bottom of the 9th inning to give the Yomiuri Giants a 3-2 victory over the Yokohama DeNA BayStars.

Yoshihiro Maru had tied the game in the 8th inning with his eighth home run of the year.

Earlier, Kazuma Okamoto took over the NPB lead in homers with his 16th of the season.

Taisei Ota, possibly the best Japanese closer in the game today, tossed nine pitches and fanned two batters with a wicked forkball and a heater that topped out at 158 kmh (98 mph).

The SoftBank Hawks defeated the Nippon-Ham Fighters 5-4 in an exciting, tense game that lasted 12 innings in Hokkaido.

Carter Stewart Jr. continued his strong 2024 campaign by striking out 10 batters over 7 innings.
He allowed just three hits although one was off the bat of Chusei Mannami, a two-run blast that was his 10th homer of the year.

The extra frames produced some interesting moments.
Tatsuru Yanagimachi gave SoftBank a 3-2 in the 10th with just his second career home run in his fifth season in NPB.
Light-hitting utility man Kazunari Ishii tied it with his second home run of the season.
Hotaka Yamakawa launched a massive bomb that died at the warning track to the relief of pitcher Naoki Miyanishi. (not shown in the highlights)
Kensuke Kondoh (who else?) put the Hawks up with a bases loaded two-out two-RBI single in the top of the 12th.
Daiki Asama lewd off the bottom of the 12th with a solo home run to cut the deficit to one run, and although the Fighters were able to get the tying run into scoring position with one out, he was left stranded as a close force out at second base ended to contest.

Nippon-Ham batters struck out a total of 19 times over the 12 innings.

39-year-old Takayuki Kishi tossed a three-hit, no-walk complete game shutout to lead the Rakuten Eagles to a 5-0 blanking of the Seibu Lions.

Kishi struck out only two batters in a dominating 119-pitch performance.
It was his 44th career CGSO over an 18 year career that began with the Lions where he spent his first ten seasons.

Yuya Ogo nearly hit for the cycle going 3-for-4 including a double and triple with an RBI and two runs scored.

The Lions are on a six game losing streak and are now 31 games below .500.

A slugfest broke out for 5 innings before normal service resumed at the Vantelin Dome as the Chunichi Dragons outlasted the Hanshin Tigers 10-8.

The lead changed hands four times and all 18 runs were scored over the first half of the game.

Hiroki Fukunaga led the Dragons at the plate going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored while Shuhei Takahashi connected for his second home run of the year, a three-run bomb in the 2nd inning.

Tomoki Ishihara led off the bottom of the 11th inning with a Sayonara home run to produce the only run of the game giving the Hiroshima Carp victory over the Yakult Swallows.
Munetaka Murakami painfully had the most forgettable day by striking out in all FIVE of his at bats (platinum sombrero) upping his league-leading strike out total to 111 on the year..

Chusei Mannami hit his 11th home run of the season and arguably made the defensive play of the year in leading the Nippon-Ham Fighters to a 3-1 victory over the SoftBank Hawks.at the「ルーフオープンゲーム」of Es Con Hokkaido Field.

Mannami's home run in the 4th inning tied the score at 1-1, but it was in the top of the 7th where the right fielder cemented his status as the best cannon arm in the game today when he gunned down the blazing speed of Ukyo Shuto at home plate to preserve a 2-1 lead. It's Mannami's ninth assist from right field this season. For me, the best outfield arm I can ever recall.

Hiromi Itoh pitched 7 innings allowing one earned run on six hits to earn his seventh win of the year.

A two-run home run from Yuya Ogo broke a 2-2 tie in the 8th inning and gave the Rakuten Eagles a 4-2 victory over the Seibu Lions in Sendai.

Ogo led the Eagles with two hits and three RBIs with the home run being his sixth of the year.

Fumihito Haraguchi's RBI single kicked off a five-run 10th inning that resulted in a 6-2 win for the Hanshin Tigers over the Chunichi Dragons.

The big blow came off the bat of Kai Ueda whose two-out triple with the bases loaded cleared the bags and turned out to be the game winning hit after the Dragons scored a run in the bottom of the 10th

Monday was Ocean/Sea Day in Japan so it was appropriate that the Chiba Lotte Marines should pick up a win on the holiday, in this case an 8-5 triumph over the SoftBank Hawks in Fukuoka.

Neftalí Soto's three-run home run in the 7th inning capped off a big seven run output to lead the Lotte offense.

Starting pitcher Yuji Nishino brought his record to 7-5 by going 6 innings for the win.

Tatsuru Yanagimachi was the Hawks leader with the bat, improving his batting average to .326 after going 3-for-4, including a double, with two RBIs and 2 runs scored.

A two-run double by Yusuke Ohyama in the 4th inning was the only scoring at the Tokyo Dome as the Hanshin Tigers gained a shutout victory over the Yomiuri Giants.

Jeremy Beasley pitched 6 shutout innings to improve his record to 4-1.

Yua Tamiya hit a double to centerfield driving home Taiki Narama from second base in the 10th inning to giver the Nippon-Ham Fighters a sayonara 5-4 victory over the Rakuten Eagles.

Tamiya was not in the starting lineup but entered as a pinch runner as the Fighters scored four times in the 7th inning to flip a 3-0 deficit into a 4-3 lead.
The 24-year-old Tamiya, who is having a breakout season, went 2-for-2 including the walk-off hit to raise his batting average to .318

Rakuten's veteran slugger Hideto Asamura, who has hit at least 25 home runs in five of the last six seasons, connected for his 8th bomb this year in the 6th inning.

An error by shortstop Christián Rodríguez with two outs in the 7th inning allowed Hideki Nagaoka to score the game-winning run and gave the Yakult Swallows a 4-3 win over the Chunichi Dragons at Meiji Jingu Stadium in Tokyo.

Rodríguez allowed Munetaka Murakami's grounder behind second base to go through his legs for the crucial error that proved to be the difference in the outcome.

The Dragons scored three runs in the 1st inning with back-to-back home runs by Hiroki Fukunaga and Seiya Hosokawa, his 11th of the year.

Naofumi Kizawa worked the 9th to earn his fifth save of the season.
