After the International Break (well for most of MLS anyways), the 2024 MLS Season hits the final stretch and sprint to the playoffs. Atlanta and Nashville will duke it out for southern bragging rights at the Benz. Can either of these teams get into a consistent run of form? Hell is Real yet again as FCC attempts to get some form of revenge of their in state rivals Columbus at TQL Stadium. Can any team derail The Champs this season? DC United look to continue their charge towards the playoffs when a talented New York City FC comes to Audi Field. Will Messi make his return from a long injury absence for Miami when a potentially injury depleted Philly comes to South Beach? The Fire look to gain any sort of positive momentum against a game Red Bulls side in the Windy City. Houston and RSL will tumble in Space City in a contest between playoff contenders out West. The Rapids and Timbers clash in the Rockies in a game crucial to both teams playoff seeding. El Traffico closes out the night of games in a top of the western standings clash.

As usual all game times are eastern. National broadcasts & Free games are listed. All games can be viewed using MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. Kickoff times can be found here.

MLS N&A play by play threads are neutral spaces. Keep all rivalry-esque banter out of these parts. Bullying. personal attacks and/or trolling will not be tolerated.

Gonna pick a few nits here.......

Joe Tolleson is the ex-PBP guy for NYCFC. Why wouldn't Apple assign him to the NYCFC v DCU match? Sure he hasn't worked for the team for a couple of years, but at least he has some familiarity with one of the clubs playng and can offer some substantial insight to the broadcast. While I might be in error the overhelming impression I get when watching Apple is the announcers never seem to do their homework and offer nothing of substance other than generic cookie cutter stuff.

Are any of the PBP guys listed ex-employees of MLS clubs?

    Bias?

We do get Tyler Terens for a few Fire games.
He had a stint doing Fire games in years past (2020-2023).
He is usually pretty salty when calling Fire matches these days. Of course, with as bad as we are, it is understandable.
As I recall, he is generally paired with Kyndra de St. Aubin, who absolutely hated (now former) Fire DP Xherdan Shaqiri.
I don't know what he did to her, but she would spend the majority of each broadcast raging about him. It was almost like she was one of the Fire fans on the Chicago Fire Big Soccer boards!

Note, WIkipedia lists the pairing as former Fire (and then WWE?) broadcaster Kevin Egan with de St Aubin on select broadcastsm but I don't recall that pairing actually calling a match. Then again, I usually turn the sound down.

We also have former Fire (and about a third of other teams in MLS) player Jalil Anibaba calling games at times.

He is, apparently, paired with the aforementioned Joe Tolleson. Frankly, Tolleson is so boring that I just looked up who was working with Anibaba as I never bothered to learn who was the PBP guy in that pairing.

Edit: Nope that was Wikipedia being incorrect.
We are apparently will be subjected to something called an Eric Krakauer.
From the beginning of broadcasts those two words ring a bell, but I have no idea what an Eric Krakauer is or what antibiotic would be needed if one contracted it.

    Nits Picked! Well done, ES.

You are not in error. I have incredibly unimpressed with the Apple TV deal.
From the cost, to the broadcasts, to the background music, to the teams calling the matches, to the absolutely dreadful goal recaps from around the league (it is truly unwatchable) to the awful video they show before the matches,
I think everything about the Apple TV just sucks out loud.

Keith Costigan is the former Sounders announcer.

Callum Williams used to do KC and Minnesota, if my memory is correct (don't take my word for it though).

    There are others, I'm sure.

Joe was pretty straight up ith his calls.
Color guy Ian Joy was a different story, but in most cases that's par for color commenators.

Now that I think about it, Steve Cangialosi is the ex-Red Bulls guy. I always thought he was pretty good.

It's less than the cost to attend one game for two people.

Assuming one would want to that.

The number of games is irrelevant if you don't care to watch. I don't have any interest in watching other teams.

I pay $13.00 a month to watch the Chicago Fire.
    The Fire?!?
Can you see the problem there?

I'm actually surprised this is the 16th time Columbus and Cincy have played. In my mind Cincy is still a new kid in town.

No handball on DC, pleasantly surprised. Now just need some midfield play instead of all-hands defense.

I saw how you managed to sneak that "new kid in town" in right after an Audi brat post. :D

"Early sub" is one of those phrases that nobody likes to hear.

Match Detail is not working on the MLS website. Uhre scored in the 1st for Philadelphia. Muyl scored in the 5th for Nashville. Somebody scored for Toronto, but I don't know who or when. There is a thumbnail highlight on the Union and Nashville goals. That's how I knew who scored and when.

Montreal have scored twice in quick succession. Who did it and when is a mystery. Orlando takes a lead on New England.
