It reeks as the VAR trying to provide in game coaching for the replacement ref rather than using VAR as its intended. Because I don't see that as being close to a clear and obvious error with that tackle.
I certainly don't think he'll be encouraging his friends to sign with RSL! He might his enemies though.
Odd start time for a game in Vancouver. Now that Miami and RSL have completed their 3rd games of the season, Vancouver finally gets to play its 1st.
Vancouvers hideous looking field turf has all of MLS’ eyes on it for 60 minutes. It may play fine but it’s visually awful.
Only reason you have to do that is because of the disciplinary tiebreaker. A second yellow card means the player gets 7 points total. I believe that a yellow carded player that gets a straight red gets 10 (3 for the yellow and then 7 for the straight red).
They are a fun team too, it sucks that the field really looks like trash. Every time I see it I wonder at what point the players union moves grass fields up their prioritization list in negotiations. If i were them at some point i would make it an issue, wanting the league to commit to a firm deadline for transition to all grass, and implement some automatic bonus for having to play on artificial turf.
Union throwing out a heavily rotated side tonight. McGlynn, Martinez, Mbaizo, and Harriel the only ones you'd expect to start on Tuesday (Semmle is entirely dependent on Blake's availability).
Going to fight the BC government? They didn't even bow to FIFA so I'm not sure MLS is going to stand much of a chance there.
Apparently, the Whitecaps Waterfront Stadium is on hold for now. Maybe it should move to the front burner.
