I have been reading this thread the past few weeks.

Has anyone told the "brain trust" at the Chicago Fire that it is IS possible to sign players, even good players, in the summertime?

Honestly, no point right now with your current scouting department still in charge. What you guys really need is to clean them out now and give a new regime 3 or 4 months to come up with a game plan and a detailed list of players. Shaqiri and Czichos come off the books at the end of the year (no option years). You try to find a taker in Argentina for Gimenez and that opens up 2 DP slots. Maybe you move on from Navarro and/or Koutsias and you open 1 or 2 U-22 slots. That gives you guys enough room to make several signings that could help really move you forward. But unless you can move Shaqiri in the next few days and you find the PERFECT player as a DP then I think you shouldn't make any moves. No use tying up future cap space for years to just try and be a sneak in the playoffs team, IMO.

Maybe you can trick the Fire into taking one of your DPs like you used to do? Been a while since you did that, honestly.

Ruidiaz is riding the bench right now....

But then, I don't trust the Sounders to get a good replacement for him.. They inquired about Alberth Elis, but apparently him being in an induced coma earlier this year and missing the last 3 months of the Ligue 2 season was a red flag..

Well, I thought they were going to have to find a spot to transfer him to. But apparently this works just as well.

Since it isn't in that release; apparently, he hasn't been available for selection or for training because he has just decided to not show up. For weeks.

Union St. Gilloise have rejected the bid of 12 million for Cameron Puertas by an unnamed MLS team. Negotiations are ongoing. If that is the case, Cameron Puertas might be on his way to the US. If so, I would bet Chicago or Atlanta. Puertas had a great season last year. 25 year old, Swiss-Spaniard. Would have started to Switzerland this summer but drove one day prior to his expired license being reinstated, as a result he had to wait a period to complete his Swiss citizenship.

    Puertas' career on FBref.

Don't know anything about this Nigerian player, but even if we assume he's real good, why is it that everyone, literally everyone except Curt Onalfo knows that we need a striker... Sure, going into the season with only Giacomo Vrioni and Bobby Wood up top was a bold move that would surely pay off, especially when you promise to make moves in the summer window.

Just delete the club. Zero ambition, poor attendance and not a priority to RB. RB and CFG should've never gotten into MLS. We already have a lot of mediocre owners with zero ambition. We don't need 2 more in a big market. NY teams should be like the 2 LA teams and Miami.

Really wish we had independent ownership in those 2 NY teams that would prioritize their team over what CFG and RB do with Manchester City and RB Leipzig. We need the Cosmos and the Metrostars in NY!

Red Bulls attendances have really picked up this season. Unfortunately they built the stadium in a stupid place where there's no parking, crappy transit and New York rush hour traffic in midweek.

NYC has produced some good young players but I don't think they'll trade big until the new stadium opens.

All young players should go to Europe they said..

It's better than MLS they said..

    Skip MLS they said.

Seriously, unless you have MLS derangement syndrome, which many do have, you can't say that this Tweet isn't spot on.

$1.6 million for a player with his resume is insane.

I've never understood what NY is trying to accomplish with their scouting network. People always say "they're just a feeder team," but they aren't even that. How many players have they successfully elevated to the other RB teams? One?

If this kid is a worthwhile project, he should be going to Salzburg. New York should be laser-focused on the western hemisphere. Maybe then they'd actually buy a player worth a shit instead of these overpriced bums from the fringes of European football.

Broke into the first team last season. Started 7 of their last 8 games. He's scored 3 braces in his last 5 games and has allegedly caught the attention of Juventus, though they would say that.

For $1.6 million the Red Bulls have nothing to lose.
